bruhwasup Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Hello, I recently tried for the 100th time to install aaf and play with it. However, whatever I do to try and change the keybindings and spamming all of my keys the menu just won't open. I installed F4SE correctly don't tell me that's the problem because I litteraly tried every possible thing at this point. Thanks.

The Fucking Manual Second, if what I'm about to tell you doesn't help, please join the AAF discord for support. The following things must be true in order for AAF to work, and should be tested in a New Game: - Enabled modding in the Fallout4Custom.ini file, which allows loose files to load into the game including F4SE's scripts. If using Vortex, you must find the correct file in the default path to edit, be sure to enable File Name Extensions in Windows Explorer to help you. If using MO2, then you have to use MO2's built in ini editor. Either way, make sure there are no line breaks in between sections. This is detailed further in the guide linked above. - Plugins are "sorted". With Vortex, this means that "Auto Sort Plugins" is enabled. Which it is by default, but maybe some people click it by accident. If Auto Sort Plugins was not enabled, then toggle it on and click Sort Plugins now next to that. In the case of Mod Organizer 2, this just involved clicking the "Sort" button under the plugins tab. - Be sure you have never clicked the "mods" menu in game because it disables plugins in your mod manager that don't have masters defined in the file header. If you aren't sure, just double check your plugins area. If "Looksmenu" plugin is disabled, this is a sign that you may have inadvertently clicked Mods in game at some point. Other plugins can be affected such as an atomic muscle plugin. To resolve this issue, toggle any disabled plugins on and see the previous point to sort them once more. The main reason I mention this is that Looksmenu is a requirement for AAF. - Only use the "F4SE_Loader.exe" to launch your game through the mod manager In the case of Vortex, you can in stall F4SE as a mod like you do any other mod and it automatically creates a tool titled "Fallout 4 Script Extender". As for Mod Organizer, you have to create the tool in MO2 and point it to that exe. Please see the guide for more info. Following those 4 core things, as long as you didn't install anything on the skip list, and installed the rest of the requirements, should get you a working install. But again, you must test this in a new game. If you did not enable modding in an old save, then that save won't work unless you try the force start command in the troubleshooting section of the guide. If AAF is installed correctly you should see the "welcome" pop up message within a few seconds after exiting the character creation sequence in the pre-war bathroom. If you got that far, and your only issue is that your "Home" key doesn't work, then the next thing to do is edit the "AAF_Settings.ini" file which is located in your AAF install folder. You can get to this file by right clicking the install location from within your mod manager and choosing to Open in Explorer. Or if using MO2, Ctrl+Double Click the mod on the left side of MO2. Once you have the ini file opened, please check the screen shot below. You will notice there is a website URL in the top red box. Visit that website. Within, you will find the codes for all of the keys on a keyboard. What you need to do is replace the actual numbers in the ini file with the new key's numbers. The part next to the semi-colon is a comment area. Once you have tested that your new key works, you may want to change the comment to reflect the new key you chose. I'm going to stop typing now because my hands are getting tired. o.o
