The Pig Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Is it okay to keep quests mods installed after finishing them like falskaar or should I uninstall and load an older save? I'm not sure if keeping them installed will kill my game since large mods do that.
Taskmaster Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I'd probably get rid of it and keep the save files as small in size as possible. I had been having a lot of problems with my Skyrim's stability lately and shaved off about 100 plugins I either didn't need or could just roleplay it through my imagination. If you're using assets from a quest mod though, then keep it. I used to always keep Moonpaths installed, even though I finished it a long time ago. It was just unnecessary keeping it and I think I will only ever install it again if I plan to actually do the story/quest again. p.s. I recommend Moonpaths if you haven't tried it.

s.eden Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Not so simple, I guess.Depend of what the quest mod add in fact.I am referring to items, npc (follower for some of them) etc.If uninstalling the mod = lost.The only option there being to go over TES5Edit and erase all that is not required to be kept (a point who could be easily managed by the modder when developing these mod, but (again) not something I see often available).(That said, I usually go for "deep copy" of the content I want/need to keep into the closest "merged tweak/patch" from the original mod in my loading list.
rawr22 Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Don't forget if you uninstall a mod after playing it, if you do not go back to an earlier save you risk orphaned scripts and a lot of papyrus log spam. I install quest mods as I want to play them one at a time, not all at the start of a game, then leave them checked. I keep a save before I installed it then only go back to it if I need to. By the time you finish a good quest mod you probably have 2-6 hours additional gameplay with it installed and should have a good idea if it is causing any problems.
