Vortex Lord Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 (edited) I was working on my dungeon when power went out. I thought no biggie because as long as I do not press save what I do in the editor does not matter. Well, it turns out it's not the case. I don't know if it's corrupted or what. I have not made backups either. Please help. Nevermind I found a backup. Kind of lost my mind when I saw months of work wiped clean. Edited May 28, 2023 by Vortex Lord
traison Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 (edited) I'll just add my 2 cents even though this is already solved. If this was to happen to me, the first thing I'd do is make a copy of the supposedly corrupted plugin. Then I'd open it in xEdit and go from there. I have a thousand times more confidence in xEdit than the CK. I wouldn't be surprised if the CK crashed and claimed the plugin was corrupted just because it was Monday. Edit: Also, in situations like this where a file was opened and edited (in memory) then appears corrupted after a power cycle or other failure could be caused by cache or so called log* files. I do not know if the CK has such a mechanic but it would be something worth looking into if "months of work" is at stake. A program such as Process Monitor from Sysinternals (Microsoft) would reveal such cache files if its not otherwise obvious or documented. * Log files in the context of delta files, sort of like how databases and some file systems do it.
