Racemenu Tattoos not visible on outfit with replaced body mesh

This is a bit complicated so bear with me. First I create my body in bodyslide like normal. Then I edit it in outfit studio to get the exact shapes I want(everything can't be done in BS) and export. You can use that body for armors by building a new project with it, like explained here:

The problem is that armors exported with this custom project won't have any racemenu tattoos visible. It's the same thing if you copy and paste the body to a new armor in nifskope. So is there a way to make them visible?

So you mean "armors built" not "armors exported" I assume. Custom project refering to one or more outfits where you essentially did a body conversion yourself, using Outfit Studio. Copy pasting a body (or any shape) in NifSkope should work as long as: The shape names remain the same, and the vertex order and count do not change.

You must have fumbled something because as far as I know there's no "overlays that only work with CBBE" from NiOverride's perspective. The worst you'll get is some misaligned textures because of UV differences. I think your custom body has the wrong equipment slot (partition), missing nodes or something along these lines. Did you inspect the meshes built by Outfit Studio, do they look like the input mesh?

Maybe upload the BS project files here.

Yes, I mean armors built. I just followed the tutorial to the point, and I know the type of body doesn't matter for tattoo visibility(It's the same body as the original though, 3BA). But anyway, I checked the output mesh and the partitions look alright but I don't know about the nodes. Maybe you can have a look? If you want to try building the outfit, you can find the armor here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/76381

I made a new slider for my custom body called "Alluring Vixen 3BA Outfit", but I don't think it matters if you use it or not. Would be much appreciated if you could solve it.

I don't quite understand what you did here. Is this it?

  1. Created a preset in BodySlide.
  2. Built a naked body with said preset?
  3. Created a new outfit in Outfit Studio?
  4. Imported the naked body built earlier?
  5. Modified vertices, or made other changes impossible in BodySlide.
  6. Created a slider out of these changes as per the tutorial in the OP.
  7. Closed Outfit Studio.
  8. Opened an already existing outfit (Freestyle) in Outfit Studio?
  9. Imported the new slider created earlier?
  10. Conformed clothing shapes to the new slider.
  11. Saved the project?
  12. Restarted BodySlide.
  13. Built the Freestyle outfit.
  14. Tattoos don't work.

1. Yes

2. Yes

3. Opened outfit studio

4. Yes, I just loaded the nif

5. Exported the body(tattoos still works on it) and closed OS

6. Opened OS(at a later date) Imported the modified body and created a slider from it (same thing really)

Yes to everything else

If I delete the body in nifskop and copy paste in a new body, tattoos don't work either, so I'm guessing this issue arises if you replace the original body and that something elementary is lost in the process.

But with the steps I outlined earlier there is no body swap on the Freestyle outfit. It seems what you're saying is, continuing on from step 8:

9.   Removed existing body.

10. Imported the body that was modified earlier. (as reference? as outfit? imported as plain nif?)

11. Conformed clothing shapes to the new slider.

12. Saved the project.

I don't understand why this happens and I spent a long time tearing my hair out over it. Eventually I found a way to fix it through trial and error. Check the link in my sig.

Yeah that's pretty much what I was getting at. Strange things happen sometimes if you can't (or otherwise don't) import the replacement body as a reference directly. I've only found one such outfit in the past, all others have worked fine. All others being the entire Remodeled Armor set and the TAWOBA set etc.

Oh and the outfit I was having trouble with was the Daring Gigaduex outfit. Different problem in that one than what the OP is describing, but still.
