Neroth654 Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Hello everyone ! I'd like to create a custom race with custom faces etc but, i'm stuck with the TRI files and everything related to it. The guides I found are pretty much old and some of the softwares are in too old versions that i can't even find anymore. If anyone would like to post some links to good modern tutorials, or if you have some time to spend and if it's not too complex, would explain to me, please ? Thank you all in advance

Thank you all in advance I don't have any experience with this stuff, but a quick look at a search engine would give you this: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Working_with_Skyrim_head_TRIs That page has links to let you work in Blender 2.49b, which is free and archived. It also has a link to export TRI to OBJ, which allows you to edit them in most 3D modeling software. 3DS Max 2012 is the gold standard, but the company discontinued that version a long time ago. Maybe it still exists on the internet somewhere.
LemonDelightful Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 You don't need to use an ancient version of Blender or track down 3dsMax 2012. You can use the latest version of Blender. Then install the Blender NIFtools addon and Blender Tri Tools which will let you work with NIF and Tri files in Blender. The tutorial that bnub345 linked is a really good one, and this one despite the name of it sounding unrelated is helpful for the sculpting process. The features in Blender aren't 1 for 1 with the tutorials so you will have to spend some time figuring out how to achieve the same thing as the tutorials.
