LeyendaV Posted April 27, 2023 Posted April 27, 2023 Yesterday, I finished my game session and everything was working fine. I did encounter this issue while playing, but my game was working flawlessly aside that. Today, I downloaded a couple of mods and launched the game as usual, but got this error message after loading my save. After that, this other error appeared, and then the game closed itself. I reinstalled those mods using Nexus (I have the archives in my drive), but now, I can't even reach the point of loading my save, the game closes while in the loading screen (the one where it shows your level and the different texts). Then, after rebooting my PC, I was able to play a little and make a quicksave, till a fatal error occurred when the game was trying to deploy the behaviour of other mod (Devious Devices). I didn't manage to take a screenshot, so I loaded the save I just made, and then the game closed again. Any ideas what can I do?

I can't understand why those should produce such errors, though it doesn't hurt to try to return to the modding state you had when everything was working fine. Meaning, get rid of all the additional mods you just installed. When that is done, this is what I would do if it was my save (and I didn't have an older save that works fine): - try get the save loading. Get indoors in a small interior cell. No NPCs (I usually go to Drelas's cottage. When I'm in that cottage, I'm usually in serious trouble ?). Wait 31 days for limiting all running scripts, then make a new save (hereby referred to as save1). Quit the game, run save game cleaner on "save1" and see if something turns up. Save your "save1" (inside the cleaner tool) if the cleaner tool find orphan scripts to remove. - Load up skyrim and load your save1. Make a new save2, and start playing on this one to see if you got rid of errors. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If problem still persist, record all error messages you find (like the ones you reported above). In the next step success is probably limited. But it doesn't hurt trying if you really want to keep your old save. Remove all mods that produce the errors you got warnings on. Again, start skyrim, load "save1", wait new 31 days. Save it. Open the last save you just amde in the save game cleaner tool again. First see if finds any orphan scripts. Clean those up and save the file. Get an overview of all script names in the mods you removed. I'm betting it's a bunch since you mentioned skyrim immerzive citizens. Once you have the knowlegde of the scripts, expand ScriptInstances in the savegame cleaner tool. If you forexample removed "SOS - Schlongs of Skyrim", type SOS in the searchfield in the upper left corner. A bunch of scripts may appear even if you did remove the problematic mods. They could be a reason to your CTDs and their stuck in your save. Delete these scripts. BUT CAUTION! Some scripts showing up in the list does not necessary belong to the SOS mod. You must not delete them blindly but carefully inspect them all. Hence, get an overview of all scripts in the mods you uninstalled. Then after you removed the script instances, save the file again and test in Skyrim. If it's working now, you can install the "problematic" mods again and hopefully everything will be fine. I've fixed a couple of saves doing this, but sometimes no scripts instances can be found and the save still crashes on me. I've also got many unsuccessful attempts in this procedure. So keep that in mind before you go uninstalling mods. I mean, you should really want this exact save to do all this ?
Harvald56 Posted April 27, 2023 Posted April 27, 2023 (edited) what patches for SOS do you run "Xanthys SoS Patch" is known producing that kind of error. Sometimes it is an incompatibility with for example SOS_DefaultUnderwearAA. so delete and reinstall you SOS armors. Edited April 27, 2023 by Harvald56

Irgendwelche Ideen, was ich tun kann? well - that's actually an almost normal condition in Skyrim modding - unfortunately. Installing mods messes up the loading order - I use e.g. "Vortex" for this myself. In the "automatic" sorting mode" for the "plugins" he likes to move mods that are already neatly sorted. On the other hand, information is stored in the memory files - from which mods get "things" to work. If these collide with the current loading sequence -> error up to CtD Unfortunately, uninstalling these mods does NOT restore EXACTLY the same loading order... so the problem basically persists. I've been working on a fresh install of my Skyrim SE for 4 weeks now (the 7th or 8th in the 12 years I've had the game)... and I never cease to be amazed. Basically, I create a new character after installing mods (whether 1 or 10 at once) ... so that everything is really at ZERO. There are mods that use settings/data from character creation and if a newly installed mod "bends" something -> you have the "ass card"! This happened to me 4 days ago with an armor mod - which brings some kind of magic. Not a single old save could be loaded anymore. Didn't really bother me - since I hadn't finished the complete installation phase and all characters were only created for test purposes... ..even if they were already level 25 and got the vampire waifu "Serana" out of the grotto. Ultimately, an incredibly high effort ... but I'm at least reasonably sure - Having all the mods you need "on board". - to be able to play my game without interference since it is essentially only intended to provide me with the screen shots for my blog story. --- the already mentioned "cleaning" of saves ... I also did for a while. It helps - but not always. The Toys Framework mod authors taught me something... they call it the "Golden Rule": ...you install a new mod - start a new game with a NEWly created character...
ShivasBane Posted April 27, 2023 Posted April 27, 2023 By adding mods during a playthrough you have changed the load order. Because of that the load prefix "xx000000" where xx equals its place in the load order has changed. The game cannot find the files associated with the mod in the expected place that was baked into your game save. Scripted and mods with dll's absolutely hate that. Even though the mods you added didn't contain scripts they did change the load order and therefore breaking your saves. Adding and especially removing mods during a playthrough is a bad idea. Even if it will load you must expect unintended behavior. Always start a new game.
LeyendaV Posted April 27, 2023 Author Posted April 27, 2023 (edited) So, I just went ahead and started and brand-new save. I reloaded it a few times, and occasionally I encounter the same error messages, that may or may not appear upon reloading. So far, I was able to keep playing even when they appear, though it's obvious I need those mods enabled, and apparently I have no way to tell when the errors are gonna appear. But with every new reload it's like the game is getting "heavier" and slower (no better word for explaining this comes to my mind), till the point it eventually just freezes. Also, I noticed something that I think it was there before, but I wasn't too busy with all the other issues LOL There are a few mods that restart themselves every time I load a save, resetting the progress related to the quests and items that belong to them.
