libertyordeath Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 (edited) Before i post loadorders and stuff, i first just wanna know if someone has seen this phenomenon before, because it's very specific. I'm getting constant microstutter every 0,5sec. It happens everywhere and is completely unrelated to performance. For example, i'm in a tiny giant cave with everyone dead. My GPU is at 60% usage, and all my CPU cores are at 35%. So there's no AI, nothing being loaded, no complex scene or physics going on. And yet when i move the mouse to look around, i notice tiny jumps about every 0,5 secs. And it's periodic, like clockwork. At first i mistook it for screen-tearing, and was confused since i have VSync on. Then looked at the ENB framecounter. It went like this: 72, 72, 72, 62, 72, 72, 72, 59, 72, 72... you get the picture. And yes, my refreshrate is 144hz, with vsync set to sync at half, so that's 72 FPS. Interestingly enough, if i go into any menu, the microstutter stops and i get constant 72 FPS. Only while i'm "playing" does the phenomenon happen. So this rules out external causes, like something wrong with my system or other programs interfering. Because if they were, the state of the game shouldn't matter. I'm running a monitor set to 144hz static vsync. SSEDisplayTweaks is set to sync every 2nd frame (72hz). ENB limiters and vsync enforcement is off. Driver is set to application control. In other words: SSEDisplayTweaks is in control of the framerate, yet i can't see anything wrong in the INI (limiters are all set to 120fps, way above the 72hz sync). Anyone seen this one before? If not i'll post LO's and modlists. EDIT: The microstutter also stops (constant 72fps) if i open the console. So, maybe it's some gamescript that runs on a 0,5sec timer? Testificateguy Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Since I saw you posted on the Petite to Plenty CBPC page, I'm gonna assume you're using that config, and if so, it's most likely because the author accidentally left the tuning.rate enable in a few of the config files. I too had a steady constant stutter like you, but it was just the tuning rate refreshing. Disabling/commenting the line fixed my stutter. 1

But wait, according to the CBPC developer himself: Quote #Set this to 1 to enable tuning mode which will load the collision config files every 120 frames(Set it to 2 for every 240 frames etc.) to allow in game config modification I have now added the following comment right below the above brainfart: Quote Value is actually in FPS !!! Get your shit together CBPC! Nearly a decade of development, and documentation is still shit! Heck, even the developer gets confused about how his own software works. Also yes: Removing all tuning lines fixed the microstutter. Constant 72 FPS now. Thanks again! Edited April 13, 2023 by libertyordeath
