kmwalker Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Just to preface, I go with the "Mod it till it breaks, rinse and repeat" method, so I'm aware that my mod setup is unorthodox (and beefy) to say the least. I'm mainly curious if anyone has had this problem before. I've been playing Skyrim with this modlist for a few months and haven't had any issues other than the occasional crash, a few days ago I tried loading a save, and my screen was black and I couldn't move my cursor. When the game eventually loaded, my character was missing their head, and after a few seconds went by, my character just up and died. (going into the menu or inventory doesn't prevent the death either, it pulls me out of any and all menus.) The game then reloads the save, and it happens all over again. I've found that the issue doesn't happen when I start a new game, but if I save said new game, go to the main menu, and reload it, the issue happens again, so whatever it is corrupts all future saves with the same problem. Has anyone seen this bug before? If so, how did you fix it? (PS. I know I have a lot of mods, they're mostly ESL's, I've merged a lot of mods and my ESP's are right under the 255 limit.) 472569380_SkyrimSE_02-14-2023_18-9-42-738.mp4 modlist.txt PapyrusUtilDev.log
Dorabella Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 I would worry about those warnings you receive, instead of ignoring them. Besides, if you don't give us time to read them, we don't know what they are about. For the head, when starting the game, you receive the warning that tattoos are missing, probable cause if you had them on

For the head, when starting the game, you receive the warning that tattoos are missing, probable cause if you had them on They're warnings I've had countless times which is why I ignored them, the Maximum Carnage warning is for mod pack users (I'm not a mod pack user), saying to double check I have all the required mods and patches, which I do. I did run a new save to see if the tattoo mod was the culprit, but it wasn't. The Fertility Mode - RS Children warning was just highlighting a redundancy, I removed the redundant mod and it didn't solve the issue. Edited February 15, 2023 by kmwalker
Dorabella Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 High Poly Head.esm requires Racemenu but, Racemenu is incompatible with EnhancedCharacterEdit.esp So, make a choice: either Racemenu with everything you have already put in, or ECE . ShowRaceMenuAlternative.esp easily replaceable with the console: open the console, type showracemenu , then enter The only thing I can think of, seen from the video, in MCM Violens, disables decapitation if head tattoos are in use Spoiler ; Determines whether face overlays are enabled ; disabling this disables the hook ; Note: face overlays are known to crash when decapitated bEnableFaceOverlays=0 ; Default[0] Since I did not see anything that could cause instant death, I assume you have a good general conflict . 1) Launch FNIS , 2) use LOOT Likely to turn up the cause survivalmode.esl Cold: Skyrim is now divided into warm, cold, and freezing climates. Traveling in snowy or rainy areas will increase your Cold. Cold decreases your total available health, represented as a dark region inside the health bar. As you become colder, your movement speed and ability to pick locks and pick pockets will begin to suffer. If you reach the highest level of Cold, your health will be reduced to zero and you will die from exposure to the elements. Is it the cause of instant death?

I'm fairly certain pausing the game stops you from dying, hence why I pointed out that it was odd I was forced out of the menu. Me dying is 100% not a in game thing, it's a byproduct of whatever is corrupting my saves.
kmwalker Posted February 24, 2023 Author Posted February 24, 2023 If anyone is having this issue, check if you are over the plugin limit, I had a few that mod organizer wasn't recognizing as ESL's.

The thing that defines what a file is, is the content. In Windows the file extension is only a hint for which application it should be associated with. MO2 is doing the right thing by not trusting this. This is why you sometimes see esp files snuggling up against esm files and refusing to move - it's flagged as an esm. xEdit can edit this easily. If you want to be a real cool dude you can seek(8) and write(b'\x01') to make it an esm. Spoiler def set_master(plugin, enabled): with open(plugin, 'r+b') as f: f.seek(8) if (enabled): f.write(b'\x01') else: f.write(b'\x00') Edit: Maybe I should clarify, that code snippet is a joke. It works yes, in some cases, but for a serious implementation you'd want to do it properly. Not that you asked, or maybe even care, but I suddenly got the feeling someone was judging me because of this. Creepy. ? Edited February 24, 2023 by traison
