Before any SexLab animations characters stand inside each other

  I've seen this problem referenced but usually in the context of animations not working at all.  You see for me the animations are working fine, but every time before any scene I see this unimmmersive merge of the participating characters, and then the animations starts a few seconds later.

Can anyone tell me why it's happening and if I can fix it?

This is Sexlab's actor alignment and its (to my knowledge) kind of unfixable. There's P+ which is patch for Sexlab that greatly speeds this up, potentially to the point of imperceptibility depending on your machine, but YMMV. You could try toggling Fade to Black option in animation settings which will hide the alignment but this may not play well with ENBs.
