xifa4 Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 I’ve never really used him in a play through before so I decided to bring him along about 24 hrs into my current playthrough. Ive been crafting a ton of weapon and armor mods which says he loves. But whenever I ask about how things are he says “things have changed and not for the better.” Is there a reason he doesn’t like me and how do I get him to?
dharvinia Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 (edited) One way to achieve maximum affinity is to modify weapons or armour at a workshop, as Codsworth "loves" this action. This is repeatable, but as of the latest patch, the cool-down period has dramatically increased from 3 to 48 hours for it to work again. However, adding an armour mod and adding a weapon mod are considered two separate actions, so one can do both. Each action "loved" will add 35 points to the required 1000 for reaching maximum affinity, and with Codsworth starting at a base affinity of 0 it will require 29 weapon or armour modifications to be attached for maximum disposition. Once "Codsworth idolises you" appears as a notification, check in with Codsworth to begin the conversation needed to get the perk. from fallout/wiki Edited January 24, 2023 by dharvinia

I found that Codsworth;s dialogue is written a bit poorly and sounds more negative than it should. "not for the better" is actually his way of saying he doesnt have high affinity with you yet , but it is not "hate you" dialogue. Keep doing things he likes and he will change his tune. Dont do them all in a row or only the first one will count unless you downlaod the "no affinity cooldown" mod. (which I have). When u have that , its much easier to take him from surly to friendly and downright admiring. For example take one set of unmodded power armor and add things to it to each piece step by step. Dont take each piece form T45a to t45d (for example) right away. No, If you have the materials take them all first to T45B (which he will love for each part) and then each part to C and then each part to D Every modification step he will love not just like. You do want to unlock his high affinity dialogues that will show you what a loyal and plucky robot he really is. Edited January 24, 2023 by katrina.balanchuk 1
