Doggystile Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 I haven't been able to get married for several reboots and I have absolutely no idea why. This never happened to me with my LE version, now I bought the SE in 2021 and installed about 70 mods. I had to realize pretty quickly that the SE has also been the AE version since 2021 and is constantly being updated, which makes modding a nightmare. I keep getting the message that various mods need to be updated because there is a new game version and some mods are no longer working. I started with version 1.6.353 and now the game is already over 1.6.6... And that's when my collar burst, because the dear modders aren't so quick to update their mods and you sometimes have to wait weeks until you can continue playing, I patched my game back to the normal version SE 1.9.57 with the downgrade patcher because it stays the way it is. My question now is, can it be because of this, or which mods are known to block the wedding? Does anyone have any advice or solution to this problem? I mean, the game runs and doesn't crash either, but it's a shame because I brought a castle per mod into the game especially for a complete family with 6 children + wife. I would be grateful for any idea or solution
traison Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 "Can't get married" is far too vague. I mean: Are you not able to buy an amulet of mara? Do you get the dialogue to ask them to marry you? Is the ceremony failing to start? Is the ceremony failing to end? What else can go wrong? Did a watermelon explode and send Maramal flying over Whiterun before you could talk to him? This is Skyrim afterall Otherwise, do a full inspection of everything marriage-related. Here's a start: Look up the marriage quest. Make sure it is running, and in the correct stage (most likely 0, otherwise try the others from the wiki page). Make sure your target npc is in the PotentialMarriageFaction [FACT:00019809] faction. Load your entire loadorder as-is in xEdit. Browse to [00] Skyrim.esm (7CAB85A9) \ Quest \ 00074793 <RelationshipMarriage>. Make sure nothing overrides this quest. Make sure nothing overrides the following scripts: QF_RelationshipMarriageCourti_00074793
Doggystile Posted January 9, 2023 Author Posted January 9, 2023 Thank you for your fast reaction. I have to say sorry, I forgot to mention that everything works so far, the conversation with the priest in Riften about the marriage where you also get the amulet (if you don't have one yet) as well as the search for a marriageable person and the Dialogue, the conversation about the wedding and appointment. And then the wedding starts too, but at the end of the ceremony where we both say yes to each other and the priest says he declares us husband and wife breaks it off and the priest says I should go away immediately and my wife says ( like Could you do something like that to me, I never want to see you again ). I've also tried it with different women, but always the same. Reloading old saves and repeating the entire procedure doesn't help either.
shadowman2777 Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 I had this happen to me. I didn't find a solution but a workaround. I noticed the part of the ceremony that triggered the failure message. I loaded my save and just before the anticipated fail, I used a console command, I think it was this one SetStage RelationshipMarriageWedding 100
Doggystile Posted January 26, 2023 Author Posted January 26, 2023 Thanks to everyone who wanted to help me, but it's done, I've found a perfect solution. Here's a great tip that worked great for me and solved the problem. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/42516?tab=description
