A way to directly change a followers appearance using racemenu?

I've been looking for ways to change a unique modded follower, each time i use proteus to copy the npc's appearance to player, the face ends up looking strange on my face, thicker or wrongly textured. I've done this before with other unique modded followers just fine. how i usually change a followers appearance is like this:

 

1: using Proteus, access Racemenu

 

2: using Racemenu, save appearance as preset and exit racemenu

 

3: using Proteus, copy npc appearance to player

 

4: using proteus, access Racemenu

 

5: using Racemenu, change appearance to my liking (this can even mean drastic changes like race changes)

 

6: using Racemenu, save appearance as a named preset

 

7: using racemenu, change back to my original appearance and exit out of racemenu

 

8: using proteus on npc, apply preset to npc

 

and Done!

 

I'm trying to find any and every other method to change follower appearances using Racemenu!
