Distance between player character and follower

Just recently after many hours of playing, Lydia has started to constantly walk into the player, pushing her out of place.  Repeatedly.  Its really fucking irritating.  Is there a global variable controlling how close a follower tries to be to the player?  She hasn't pushed me off a cliff  yet, but its only a matter of time.   

 

I use EFF and in its settings it has a setting for distance between followers, but not distance to the player.

I do.   I just noticed that if I tell her to wait she continues to follow and push me around, but if I tell her to relax, she sandboxes like she's supposed to.  

 

Edit:  I just went to check to see if STA had any settings that seem related, but its MCM won't load.  Interesting.  Maybe it crashed somehow.

Well I disabled Spank that Ass, cleaned it out of my save, then reinstalled it.  The MCM loads now and she has stopped pushing me around.  I guess the mod crashed in some way.
