SouthernGorilla Posted November 30, 2022 Posted November 30, 2022 I tried the "last exception" page and it just tells me "unknown error". My game is hanging on startup. It launches, I select a sim to play, then it just sits on the loading screen. I'm currently in the middle of a 50/50 search to see if it's a bad piece of CC. But I'm curious to know if there's some other log I could be looking at. I have Tmex's "Better Exceptions", but it isn't kicking one out. I'm guessing it doesn't see a problem since I CtrlAltDel out of the game. I've also used S4TI to get rid of everything that's definitely broken or a duplicate. So I'm kinda clueless as to where the problem is. But I do know it started after I went on a binge to repopulate my Mods folder. Who knew that downloading 6,000 packages overnight could cause problems? Heh. More worrisome, the "Last Exception" page tells me I have an unspecified "offensive" package installed. It doesn't tell me the name of the package, only the author. But I can't find anything with his name on it even with a Powershell search.
SouthernGorilla Posted December 1, 2022 Author Posted December 1, 2022 Answered two of my questions. 1) It was a defunct script breaking the game. Something about private schools. Well, the script may be fine. But I only had the packages instead of the script. So that may have been the root problem. But it isn't a mod I'm interested in, so I just deleted what I had rather than looking deeper into it. 2) MCCC puts out a very nice, detailed exception report. Not only does it show the actual file causing the problem it also includes a breakdown of the sim population. Fascinating to know that there are twenty sims living in Sulani but only three mermaids. The population is a bit confusing since the math doesn't add up. It says I have a total of 491 sims: 110 homed, 69 homeless, 308 ghosts.
