katrina.balanchuk Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 (edited) When I started playing this game this summer I did not even know how to repair power Armor. Much less modify it. I was a bit in the shoes of Nora would be if she tried to step into Nate's role.. So I simply got "normal" armors in the game and set the game to "very easy" to make up for not wearing power armor. but once I figured out how to repair PA and modify it it was so much fun! And Power Armor is pretty iconic for Fallout I also downloaded this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7584 This adds assigned values for attacks a PA is impervious to by its model the higher the model number, the greater the model number, the no damage level. So I don't want to take too high a model so its not overpowered. So T45 it is, nicely modded and painted. With that mod I had the satisfaction to see rad roaches in Olivia USAF base scurrying away from me like real roaches, since they could not injure me in the Power Armor. this is how it should be: Can anyone here imagine a world in which power armor is pierced by dog sized roaches or dogs for that matter. So this mod makes sense. I was just pleasantly surprised that the games algorithm was able to respond so common sense to this mod, creatures that find a opponent impervious to their attacks should be fleeing. Even the (low level) raiders I noticed, who are usually so brave and keep fighting even an overpowered player character, now sometimes run when they find their weapons dont work at all. So this is another reason I now stick with T45 with this mod a T51 and certainly a T60 might be too overpowered. And finally most pieces can be repaired on the road with only widely available steel, rarely do T45 repairs need more than this. Edited December 2, 2022 by katrina.balanchuk 2
LT12Gauge Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 I almost wish I could tolerate power armor to give this mod and what you're saying a try. Imagine a suit of armor you can simply sneak up behind, steal the fusion core from and forever entomb its wearer. That, and I'm a stealth type player but I wish there was more of the mechanics in game that cause low level animals and such to simply flee. Power armor just doesn't suit my play style but I'm glad there are mods out there that allow PA to be enjoyable for those who like the idea of using it. It made me feel bulky and unattractive. But it makes sense for this game both for history of the game and of real world. who would want to be out in such a landscape without strong protection...
katrina.balanchuk Posted December 1, 2022 Author Posted December 1, 2022 (edited) On a new playthrough I cleared our Starlight drive in, but I had a mod with the big wall. When when I showed up and cleared it out the ugly mole rats were just trying to run away from me (due to the mod above) and trying and failing to burrow away under the wall. I should have taken screenshots. how the game can accommodate 2 such different mods and their common sense effect together in game play just amazes me. Maybe i will look for an old save later and post screenshots of mole rats fleeing and not being able to burrow under the wall to flee. In real life such a wall would extend well below the ground too , for foundations I am sure so again this is realistic/immersive. PS: The mole rats in fallout 2 were downright cute and I always felt a bit bad for shooting them. But these are so evil looking it makes it very easy. Edited December 2, 2022 by katrina.balanchuk
katrina.balanchuk Posted December 2, 2022 Author Posted December 2, 2022 (edited) PS: Also I noticed the T45 seems to take to amor paintjobs better, at better resolution. At least this seems ot hold for both the german camouflage that I downloaded and the Minuteman blue paintjob mod I have. Edited December 2, 2022 by katrina.balanchuk

katrina.balanchuk Posted December 2, 2022 Author Posted December 2, 2022 Contrast this T60a with a camo paintjob and it seems less resolved
katrina.balanchuk Posted December 2, 2022 Author Posted December 2, 2022 (edited) Incidentally, here are the protection factors form my "apparel" screen for T60a and T45f..... at 1071 for T60a and 1191 for T45f (in both cases wearing the same clothing underneath, MM general uniform which add its own armor effect of 45 , so we are looked at "naked" numbers just from the PA of 1026 for T60a and 1146 for T45f respectively) I realize nearly everyone on here knows about the effects of modifications on Power Armor but IMHO it is still pretty amazing that the fully upgraded T45 jumps not just one but two classes of armor in its effectiveness. To match the T45f the T60 would have to be a T60c or d . And yes before anyone jumps on it I do understand that the T60 can be modified to f also and will theN exceed the T45 by the same amount they both do unmodified. (Plus sometimes we still get Newbies like myself discovering the game so I hope this was interesting to someone out there.) Edited December 2, 2022 by katrina.balanchuk
