LeroyJenkinsBrother Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 Hello All, I stumbled across a YouTube video about improving performance and stability in VR games (in general) by using an alternate version of the open_vr FSR API. I just went through 20 levels of Skyrim in over 4 hours and did not CTD once, and I have over 200 mods. I used to be guaranteed a CTD on transitions about every half hour. I can also attest everything was quite a bit sharper and no stuttering or choppiness. Quite literally, this thing is a panacea to may of the problems modded skyrim and fallout has. Here's the repository. Get the zip file, save your old openvr_fsr.api first, then unzip into the root like any mod, and I can attest, it is a game changer! https://github.com/fholger/openvr_fsr This dude in the video explains things quite well and how to set up for maximum effect... best 10 minutes you can spend... Here is the video: 1
LeroyJenkinsBrother Posted November 29, 2022 Author Posted November 29, 2022 As a bonus, this seems to have fixed the "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" that was being generated occasionally from SkyrimVR.exe. I am not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure the author of the new API driver tightened up the memory management. No crashes for at least 8 hours of play. 200+ mods. Again this only applies to the VR version of Skyrim.
