AmazoniaRed Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I have a mod that I have successfully ported from FO3 to NV. I thought this weapon was awesome and thought I should have it in New Vegas. Anyway, the model has a set of ironsights built into the model, but when I go to aim the gun in-game it does not use the ironsights on the gun. I did figure this would be a hazard for porting the weapon into New Vegas, but I am just an amateur (way amateur) modder so I do not know how to get it use the ironsights in game. If anyone could give me some advice on how to get the weapon to use its ironsights in game I would be very grateful.  I have several tools at my disposal:  3ds Max 2012  Maya 2012  Blender  Nifskope
ElvenScoundrel Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 You need to add the Sightingnode node to the gun. Just load any vanilla FNV gun into the game, and you'll see some crosses above the stock and behind the sights, as well as on the ejection port and muzzle. The one you want to put on your gun is the one above the stock, behind the sights. That Node tells the game WHERE to center the camera when you aim. You can move it forward so it sits closer to the sight, but the general idea is to place the SightingNode where your charatcer's head would be.

I managed to just borrow the sight node from another, extremely similar, gun and with some tweaking of the position and in-game testing the sights are now line up properly so thanks for the help. It has worked to perfection.
