ayabird Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Hello, so I've been in and out of the modding scene for a while now. If I'm unaware of something or I missed something obvious, blame it on inexperience. I upgraded from LE to SE recently, and I wanted to use ECE since I used it in my LE saves. ECE worked great in LE, but I'm having some trouble getting it to work in SE. The YgNord race is installed, but none of the sliders are present. I also noticed that my character's breast physics don't work when I install ECE with the body slider option ticked on, so I figured that I needed to install XPMSSE differently. I checked XPMSSE's Nexus page and lo and behold, there's a little guide for ECE users. I'm having trouble understanding it, though. "Enhanced Character Edit\Vanilla users: Racemenu for SE/AE (Nexus) | Racemenu SE/AE (Patreon) (extract the RaceMenu bsa and install only the nioverride.pex and the skee.dll/ini)" I've never really messed around with bsas before, so I'm not really sure what to do here. If any experienced modders can help me out, I would appreciate it! I know the easiest solution is to just use RaceMenu, but I just prefer ECE.
traison Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 If you got Skyrim on a platform that auto-updates (Steam, probably others) you don't have SE, but rather AE. You can downgrade this back to SE using tools found on the Nexus, if you run into compatibility issues. MO2 can extract BSA files, and typically it asks whether you want to do so or not when you install a mod. If that is not an option then look up BSA Browser.

I'll try both of those things out in a moment. I do need a little clarification on "install only the nioverride.pex and the skee.dll/ini", though. Do these come with RaceMenu, or are they different mods I need to install separately? The wording of that sentence confuses me a bit. Thank you for reaching out, btw
traison Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 I do not use ECE myself but I would assume that means you have to grab 3 files from the RaceMenu installer. So download it manually, extract the mod archive somewhere and copy those files into a new mod maintaining the folder structure. Most likely these: .\SKSE\Plugins\skee.dll .\SKSE\Plugins\skee.ini .\Scripts\nioverride.pex

YgNord is added, the CharacterMakingExtender.log file is created, but no sliders. I can't take any screenshots from my game for some reason, but I can share screenshots of my load order and the mod I created with those three files. I could have totally misunderstood what you meant by "copy those files into a new mod maintaining the folder structure.", as I'm inexperienced. This is the best I could do to the best of my understanding. EDIT: I wonder if it's the downgrade patcher I'm using. I used the Best of Both Worlds patcher. Edited October 23, 2022 by ayabird
ayabird Posted October 23, 2022 Author Posted October 23, 2022 UPDATE: I got it to work!!! I just had to install an older version of ECE. ?♀️ To be more specific, this version from November 2021. Onto re-installing my body mods. Thank you so much for the assistance, though, traison!
