Mod Organizer and Skyrim different directory

Recommended Posts

Hello, I had Skyrim installed with 200+ mods on my E: SSD, I've just bought an M2 SSD to replace this one that got really slow, copied all of the files from the old one to the new one, and now my modded profile in MO2 is gone, saying (obviously) that it can't find the instance, but it won't let me change the directory in the instance manager. Did I completely lose my profile or is there any way to get it back? I really don't want to lose hours upon hours to mod it again seeing how I had a LOT of mods and all worked well together thanks to bashes and patches that I can't find myself figuring out again.

MO stores everything in it's own folder structure and leaves Skyrim's own folders completely untouched, which is one of it's defining features.

If you still have your old hard-drive, you just need to find the MO folder there (by default C:\Program FIles\Mod Organizer I think) and copy that or at least the /mod and /profile subfolders over (stuff from MO1 can just be dropped into the folders of MO2 without an issue by the way).

If the old hard-drive is already gone, the unfortunately you'll have to re-download all your mods and recreate your old mod profile... and depending on how you had your old MO set up you save-games might also be gone.

But I've made an exact copy of my old disk into the new one, so the mods folder should already be there, right?

Yes, if you made a full copy, then the files should still be there.

You can open Tools->Settings and check in the Paths tab whether everything points to the place you have the stuff saved at and then either change those pathes, or use the info to copy them to the right spot.

It's possible that the filepath were saved in the windows registry rather than in a local file I guess.
