Anyone have a unique empire that they play as that isn't a milk rancher?

Every time I play, I make an empire where its entire income is mostly Milk Ranching and then you just trade them off to get all the other resources. I feel like it's the only feasible and the easiest way to "Beat" the game, But I was wondering if there were some different empires I haven't considered trying. Like a dominant militarist (I don't like being evil) or Bimbos that somehow manage to survive without researching anything. I'm just curious in the different combinations people have come up with.

I am addicted to making new empires to the point where I have over 30 of them now. Some of them absolutely see more play than others, but there's three that I typically go back to:
1) Kobolds that can live anywhere. I'm at something like +80% habitability at game start, and it allows me to expand very quickly (Though unfortunately, it uses the escaped gene slave origin from sexy xenos traits and more, which to my knowledge is incompatible with the current version)
2) Tech rush Avali. Same basic strategy you'd be using in vanilla, just a little bit better since there are slime labs and other such lewd research things

3) Full lewd goblins. Max out reproduction and sex jobs, fill up every planet you get to as soon as you get to it. Make obscene amounts of trade value

Honorable mention to the brood swarm, which would be the evil route, but lewd. Being a hivemind means you don't need to worry about piracy so you can spread yourself pretty thin and devote all ships to war. Reason to declare war: BREED

I definitely have the same problem. I tend to mod the game rather extensively as well, so I tend to end up with a lot of compelling Origins and Civics.

 

Some of my favorites:

1) Tomb world "Terraforming": Post Apochalyptic Origin with any way to get Armageddon Bombardment. That's Barbaric Despoiler/Jovian Pox/or become the crisis. Where war-crimes and colonization goes hand in hand. Add in Radiotrophic for more fun.

2)  Sadomasochistic Evolution origin. Primary species is All Male/Dominant/Sadistic, secondary species in All Female/Submissive/Masochistic. You can reverse the gender rolls to your preference as well. Its great having all the synergy bonuses. Milk cows optional but not required, especially if you go the route of submissive males.

3) Hegemonic Criminal Heritage Sexual Contractors. Starts off with 2 other species to dominate and corrupt from game start. You go collecting other species from there.

4) Form the new race pack; Corporate Sex Death Cult who are also knights of the toxic god. That's the Sex cult and Death cult civics with Megacorp knights all at the same time. 

5) Subterranean Lithoid hive mind. Very slow pop growth needs to be offset by abducting or necrophaging other empires pops.

6) Sexbot revolution. Rogue servitors who make heavy use of the sexopolis content to make a hedonistic paradise for their biotrophies. You can think of this either of two ways; either consensual or non-consensual.

I most often play as a Human and Pony Parallel Evolution empire with the Orgasmic Diplomats and Masterful Crafters civics. As well as a bit of a dom/sub theme. So they're all pretty much super skilled, and super "friendly."

 

That or a monstrous brood swarm for when I feel like sticking tentacles into my galactic neighbors.

 

I also have a bunch of custom-made empires that I don't actually play myself, but set up so I can "theme" my new galaxies certain ways.

Tentacles' Evangelists.  It's a Tentacle Symbiosis origin and a (fanatically) Spiritualist ethos.  I run them as an All Female species with Interspecies Breeder (Intercompatible Womb if you don't have Calcifire's Director's Cut) so I can hold a tentacle festival on day one and start rolling for a perfect hybrid.  As Orgasmic Diplomats, the goal is to preach the joy of tentacle worship to the entire galaxy and convince (read: subjugate) them to join the festivities.

 

As far as feasibility of play, it works.  Being spiritualist provides concubine jobs immediately for cash and unity; with sex-focused traits, breeder jobs supply enough food to support the beginning population; and the system is (quite unfairly) loaded with +40 minerals every time.  You're losing 17 consumer goods immediately, so there's a little bit of juggling with that and the excess exotic gas production to stay positive; but as soon as you can buy up to the 1k minerals to build your first sexology district, everything flies.

I regularly run an Aquatic MegaCorp with Franchised Prostitution.  Their goal is to bring the wonder of hot, wet, aquatic sex to every planet in the galaxy (if possible).  Fanatic Materialist/Egalitarian ethics, and I tend to play them very "tall" with only a handful of planets.

Crossposting this from the main LV thread because I didn't know it existed.

 

I've had fun playing a world of "Small town/suburban society that acts wholesome on the surface but is actually lewd": A 'Moral Democracy' that is pacifist/egalitarian/xenophobic, with the 'Agrarian Idyll' civic. The race are basically just humans with the "traditional" trait and nothing else.

 

The gimmick is that they DON'T allow prostitution (legally)... no brothels or bordellos. What they do have is lots of "comfort workers". Basically, instead of overt prostitution and pornography, it's a society set up where 'porn scenarios' are encouraged to occur naturally. Instead of openly advertised sex workers, it's a society full of wholesome service workers and community organizations... which just happen to mostly be made up of sexy girls in skimpy uniforms. Instead of just being hookers with a theme, all the naughty nurses are actual nurses. All the cute waitresses offering a quick fuck in the bathroom for an extra-large tip are breaking the rules instead of just doing their jobs, but they do it anyway.

 

It's fun to think of what all kinds of professions can go under the umbrella of "comfort workers" who are open to earning extra pay through a little semi-illicit fun. Sexy cab drivers... sexy firefighters... sexy cleaning ladies (and studly janitors)... 18+ girl scouts who go door-to-door selling "cookies" and collecting "donations" for charity... librarians who will open their legs as well as a good old-fashioned book in exchange for an under-the-table fee... slutty babysitters who end up accidentally giving the kids they're sitting for a new sibling after the daddy offers them a big tip... tomboy mechanics who get flustered when they're offered extra pay to bend over and drop their shorts (but often say yes anyway)... postal workers and delivery drivers who excel at "package handling"... and, since agrarian idyll makes farmer pops provide amenities, we can assume there are a lot of nubile farmers' daughters providing 'hospitality' to houseguests and neighbors. 

 

Of course since it's all spontaneous and illicit instead of regulated, the "comfort workers" apparently aren't using contraception technology as scrupulously as legalized prostitutes are - considering comfort workers don't provide a -5% to popgrowth like allowed prostitution does, on top of the hefty +20% growth bonus from "Disallowed" prosttitution. And that's assuming contraception technology even still exists once the "breeding" tradition gets selected, nevermind stuff from the tech tree like "Repopulation Effort" and a "Family-centric" elected ruler... it's fair to assume these various types of comfort workers are getting knocked up left, right and center. But nobody wants to rock the boat by pointing it out.  Since they're pacifist egalitarians with the "utopian abundance" living standard, they just keep sweeping it under the rug and quietly sending support to all the bastard kids and single parents that result. 

 

The responsible thing to do would probably be to recognize the issue, legalize prostitution and regulate it. But, in the game I'm playing, there are not one but TWO scary hive mind species right on their borders, so rampant unplanned pregnancy is a matter of species survival. I imagine that the stuff implied by the "Breeding" tradition like aphrodisiacs in the air and water supply is mostly kept secret from the population.

 

In an empire like this, I imagine that the "Breeding centers" (which I only built on a couple of planets because more would honestly be overkill), instead of being some kind of industrialized orgy pit or artificial insemination center, are just colleges and universities where none of the students are on birth control, with the female students and staff constantly being targeted by horny frat boys and dirty old professors.
