CTD on loading ALL exterior cells

Sorry about my poor English. Hear me out - I have searched this site all over, Nexus, Google, tried a large number of solutions, but nothing will fix this problem. I returned to Skyrim today after around 4 months gone, the game ran fine, but I noticed on NMM that a ton of my mods have been updated. So I started updating everything as you would... then this happened.
 
I last saved my game inside a house in Windhelm, now I cannot get out! coc command doesn't work, though it will travel me to another interior. I have tried loading earlier saves outdoors and inside, but again I can never load ANY exterior areas. It crashes right at the moment the area would appear on screen. 
 
I have ran BOSS to auto sort my load order, but I have a feeling BOSS doesn't quite get it right
 
I have also cleaned all my dirty edits using TESEdit.
 
Created a bashed patch using Wrye Bash. 
 
I'm hoping someone is going to nail this and point out a disaster in my load order....

Skyrim isn't kind to saves when you make too many changes at one time, even it's just updating. From a quick glance at your mods, there are quite a few errors:

 

Skyrim shadow stripping fix isn't necessary when you have RLO installed, RLO has its own way to deal with shadow stripping and having shadow stripping fix will likely cause conflict.

 

Remove Imaginator, it's known to cause problems such as save bloat and instability, this has been proven and confirmed by users time and times again.

 

You said you returned after 4 months, is your skyrim up to date? The latest patch is 1.93, many of the mods you updated may require the latest patch. Also try one of your previous saves(if you had any), see if you experience the same issues. If the problem is present in all of your saves, try to start a new game and see it happens.

Thanks for the reply. I am running the latest version, auto updated on Steam. I have removed shadow stripping and Imaginator. Tried loading a new game, but still the same CTD problem.

Then you've got a problem(s) with your mods, I would start uninstalling most of your mods and only keep a small amount of mods that you know for CERTAIN that won't cause problems, such as Falskaar, COT, RLO, USKP..etc, then start a new game and see what happens. But before that try to deactivate ALL of your mods in whatever manager you use, start a new game and see the problem still persists, if it still does, well, it's probably useless to pinpoint the culprit of your mods, time to reinstall the game.

OK I give up. I am just going to go ahead and do full game/mods remove and reinstall. Losing a 112 hour save

 

I've learned a few things throughout this battle though, so I will be more prepared next time around.

 

My final piece of advice to others on this... Be careful with saves that have heavily scripted mods tied to them.

I lost my 100+hours save once, I know how it feels. There are also things I've learned from the lesson, besides to be extra careful around script heavy mods, pay close attention when you are going to update or uninstall a mod, if you have a mod resides in your save, unless it's absolutely necessary to remove it, do NOT uninstall it. Skyrim can be very fickle when it comes to uninstalling/updating mods.

 

And here is a quote from QuarnAndKivan, the author of unofficial Skyrim patch: "3. There is no such thing as a clean save. It does not matter who tells you there is, it doesn't exist in Skyrim. You cannot remove any mod, not even the patch, without there being some data that's been permanently changed. Doing this repeatedly WILL damage your save and WILL eventually lead to it becoming corrupt and unusable. Bethesda's own developers have confirmed the only way to properly remove a mod is to load a save made BEFORE that mod was introduced into the game. If you started a new game with 10 mods installed, you're going to be stuck with those 10 forever." 

 

Since I lost that old save, I have been very cautious around mods, when I see a new mod coming up that interests me and makes me want to try it, I manually make a save before installing it, I play around with it for some time and see if there is any issues arise with it, then I decide whether to keep it. If it's not worth keeping, it's always safe to uninstall the mod and then go back to the save you made. I'm 120+ hours into my save now and have around 85+ mods(mostly graphical enhancement and armor mods, very few that are script-heavy) installed, so far I can remember it only CTDed and froze a few times.

I know this may sound obvious, but it happened to me once while updating a mod that relied on it.

I have CTD when loading latest save from time to time.  Sometimes even without any change done to the game.

 

I find out that start a new game first and just try to load that problematic save again help the situation.  Doing like this help me everytimes CTD occur with loading of previous save.
