Make custom hair invisible with worn helmet

Recommended Posts

I have a custom made HDT Hair converted to Skyrim but the problem is the hair shows through Helmets when worn. How would I set it so its invisible with a helmet on?

If the helmet was actually a helmet it would already be invisible. Your helmet is most likely a circlet according to the game, so make it a helmet:

  1. Open the esp in xEdit.
  2. Find the ARMA record of your helmet.
  3. Change its BOD2 record to 31 and 42.
  4. Find the ARMO record of your helmet and do the same thing .
  5. Open the nif in NifSkope.
  6. Find every BSTriShape.
  7. BSDismemberSkinInstance -> Partitions -> Partitions -> Body Part
  8. Change these slots to match what you did in the esp.

Or if that got complicated, upload the esp and the helmet nif here and I'll fix.

I got that Argonian hair mod working. thanks for your help with that! Turns out I just needed to select the preset tab and it reset all my available hairs (took a lot of googling to figure out something so simple.)

 Anyway, now  the issue is the hair is present even through Vanilla headgear (as seen in screenshots attached)  I tried editing the helmets like you said but they already have the edits you suggested, even in Nifskope. I have attached the nif if you can see what the problem might be.

Thanks again for the help, it means a lot!

The nif you sent me is set to use slot 130, which I didn't know even existed. It needs to be moved to slots 31 and 42 as per my instructions above.

Edit: Nevermind, the vanilla helmets seem to be 130 as well. This is different from other armor pieces I've seen up until now.
