Game Freeze On Sleep (AE)

On sleep my game will freeze, music still playing in the background. Right after the sleep menu closes.

 

Earlier in the save I was able to sleep successfully but now nearly every time I do I get a game freeze (99% of the time) after i sleep. I have tried switching off various script heavy mods that have sleep triggers to see if any of them are the culprit but I have had no luck in my testing narrowing down to any one mod. 

 

Ive read that freezes where the audio is still heard like this are usually too do with script issues so thats what I've looked into with no success.

 

I've probably read about a hundred threads on skyrim crashes on sleep and so far non of them have helped. So if you've had similar issues or got any Idea please let me know. thx

First thing that comes to mind is a bug that happens with certain mods on Fallout 4 where they will display a dialog immediately when the game start. Problem is that mirror sequence has a screen overlay (white) and the dialog is drawn behind that. Looks like a freeze, but its just waiting for input. Not sure how dialogs like that work in vanilla Skyrim as I've been using Better MessageBox Controls for years. But have you tried just pressing Enter? I guess if that's not a thing without the mod then you may have to try to hit the invisible buttons with your presumably invisible cursor.

 

Does the console work? Can you remove all imods with it to see if there's something under the black screen?

 

Other than those silly ideas I can't think of much, short of attaching a debugger to Skyrim when its supposedly frozen. And I don't mean to be rude but if you didn't think of that yourself then you probably wont be able to do it, however if it did pique your interest: x64dbg

Unfortunately it is a hard freeze and not just the game waiting for input. CPU usage drops to zero and task manager reports it as not responding. Console does not work. (If it was waiting for input it idles at about 20% CPU usage)

 

It's also not a black screen. Right as the rest menu closes and the games engine starts up again it freezes. I can see the lighting in the middle of it's last change due to waiting 8hrs in game.

For me Sanguines Debauchery can do that, there's an option in the MCM to disable the immersive start which should teleport you to Sanguines domain, but for me it can sometimes freeze or crash the game.

The two mods which I'm unwilling to remove cause this issue for me, SD+ and SL Survival, anyone has fix or something?
