Belladonna Race (Trials of Mana)

View File

This mod is my giant hack of Cerinian Race / Katia Race and adds a female-only feline beast race based on Belladonna character from Trials of Mana.

I tried to rig her original model, but sadly couldn't achieve any coherent results, so had to compromise to bring her to Skyrim at least in this form.

Features:

* Original Belladonna's hair, ears, tail and clothing models ported from Blender project (sadly, ears do not move, I don't know how to facerig)

* Original Belladonna's digitigrade feet model, powered by Racemenu High Heels

* CBBE 3BA (3BBB) body model

* Claw hand model taken from Lykaios Reborn Race

* Head model taken from Cerinian / Krystal Race

* XPMSSE-compatible skeleton of Katia Race by That_Maggot (Thank you! This mod would be far less functional without it)

* Custom-painted face, mouth, body, genitalia and hand textures to match everything else

* BodySlide projects for Hands, Paws, Body and Armor

* Custom BodySlide preset that loosely resembles original Belladonna's body proportions (feel free to adjust to your taste)

* Body texture supports humanoid CBBE feet model, so any normal clothes should work for her just fine

* Her clothes and earrings include proper ground meshes and can be worn by standard races as well - I created model variants for both humans / elves and khajiit

* DAR Conditions file for use with Feline Movement Animations for Khajiit (set as random chance of 25%. Feel free to edit to accommodate to your taste)

* Simple Belladonna follower NPC (uses FemaleSultry voice bank), located in The Bannered Mare of Whiterun

* Original reference Belladonna model (with skeleton) converted to NetImmerse and FBX formats is included in "omake" directory

* All textures are compressed into BC7

Limitations:

* There's only one eye texture

* Changing skin and hair colour is not supported. Conflicting body parts: digitigrade paws (will change into wrong texture), hair and ears (broken textures)

* Original textures use simple normal maps instead of Bethesda's MSN normal maps and do not entirely match the body's lighting, resulting in visible seams. I suggest to use jewelry or clothing mods that cover these up

* Krystal / Katia skeleton is a weird one. NPC Head bone uses non-standard scaling. Because of it, it's impossible to properly match any head parts, including hair. This is why Belladonna's hair is smaller than it should have been, because I had to semi-blindly match it with NPC Head and NPC Spine2 - two bones with different scaling

This project is far from perfect. Anyone more knowledgeable is free to pick it up and improve however they see fit.

Thanks for your time and I hope you'll enjoy it.

It seems that this Mod has a problem in 3rd person, when you use faster hdt smp. Because what happends is that when you look straight up in 3rd person the Characters goes completly invisible. I found something out what maybe could be the issue.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/articles/3821

That`s what I found. Is there maybe some Idea how you could fix it. I mean I don't have personal problems with such small thing, but I know someone who does.

Sadly, I can't fix this, because HDT-SMP doesn't work on my machine in any shape or form, so no way for me to test.

As for what's said in the article itself, I simply can't avoid using extra hair parts for Belladonna's Hair, otherwise her hair colour (and the colour of ears) gets messed up.

However, if you (or somebody else) will manage to fix/remake the meshes to work properly and make the required changes to my .esp file, I'll happily merge them with the mod.

Sorry for late reply.

Okay no problem but thanks for letting me know and don't worry, as you see, my replies are also late. ^^

P.S.: I sadly can't make mods so sadly can't try to help with this issue.

Could you add textures without the nipples? I just prefer to have her body match her original look in the game without nipples.

I tried doing such texture back in active development phase, but the result was looking pretty ugly with this type of body model (nipples would still protrude, unless you change the body model in BodySlide).

With that said, I'll give it a try.

Edit: Here, re-painted the body texture and its normal map.

Not from me, since I don't have Oldrim. If it helps, this is based on 3BA body and XPMSSE skeleton derivative. If they exist for LE, then probably.

Since you don't own it can you give me some directions on how to port this to LE? By that I mean: Programs that I need to use, files that I need to change and how to...idk, "compile" the mod after the changes(I have no clue how Skyrim porting works)

I'm interested in porting some other races from SE but truth be told, I don't know where or how to begin this whole process, so if you could give me some directions that would be great : )

As an all-in-one solution, you can try converting the mod with Cathedral Assets Optimizer. ESP itself is in Form 43 format, so it should work as is.

Like I said back then, you'll either have to find a 3BA backport for LE, or replace the body model with another hi-poly CBBE-compatible one (and make sure the feet models don't have seams when used together with such body model).

Do note LE doesn't support BC7 texture format, so you'll have to convert those to either 24/32-bit RGB/RGBA or DXT5 (this will result in quality loss, there's no way around it).

Thanks a lot for the reply mate, not gonna lie literally half of what you said I get it and the other half, like format names and their implications, I have no clue what they are or why they are needed but I'll make a research about this later.Dunno when I'll have time to start to look at this, much less work on it, but I'm going to eventually.

And since you were so spot on your explanation(thanks again!), can you explain or give me directions on how  one can import a 3D model of a character into Skyrim LE? Is there anything I need to do/convert to before trying to try to import it? Because longstory short there are 2 characters I would like to make playable characters, they are already made by somebody else.

Would you mind creating a tutorial for how you did this?

Sorry, it was mostly trial-and-error approach. Like I said, it's a hack of an existing race, meaning I didn't create any .tri files - all of them came from elsewhere. Her ears and hair are both part of the hair mesh, her real ears are downscaled and pushed inside of her head. Her body is a "normal" 3BA mesh copied from Acro's mod with changed texture paths, etc. etc.

Try launching without Fast-SMP or update your XPMSSE installation. If it's a bug caused by SMP, I can't help you because it doesn't work on my CPU and I cannot debug something that doesn't work in the first place.
