Problems with armour translucency not looking right.

I've been experimenting with making armours translucent like glass, but I've had mixed results. Often armour pieces I've edited look glitchy: there are square patches on the surface of the mesh that are darker or lighter than the surrounding areas. I don't know what causes it or how to get rid of them. I've tried multiple methods of setting transparency & they all produce the same problems.

I've included a sample screenshot of a custom pauldron that displays this issue. Vanilla skyrim glass & ebony pieces also display these artefacts.

Any advice would be appreciated, looking for tutorials on the internet has gotten me nowhere.

Skyrim doesn't handle transparent layers well. Any time you view one layer through another it flickers in and out depending on where the camera moves. It might be ok if the outfit doesn't have any pieces that overlap.

This explains a lot. All of the problem pieces are multilayered. Well, that's disheartening, but at least now I have closure.

I think the old Hydro Transparency fix for Skyrim Legendary edition actually works in Skyrim Special Edition....uh basically you could have working transparency but it needs end user to have another mod.

There is a fix for it but it only works on LE as far as I know. It's actually a SKSE issue with how it handles the flags. I think whoever fixed it is no longer active and never ported it to SE. If there is a working SE version though please let me know.

I sort of just dropped in the the Game folder and it did work though...not sure why but figured why the heck not try anyway.
