echo789 Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 (edited) Hi, I currently just downloaded the Sims 4 and thus am having issues with many mods, many of which are not caught by scanning software. These mods keep shutting down my game so I don't even get a chance to play. It's making me extremely frustrated and wanting to give up on the game/mods. My Request: Can a section on this website be created just for listing which mods are up-to-date for animations, clothing, etc. when new updates happen. This happens on other forums already but they do not list mods from adult websites. Usually the users themselves give updates so a admin person just has to pin the post and update it frequently based on user comments/feedback. Edited July 10, 2022 by echo789

If so, blacklist you're game and mods folder in your anti-virus scan directories.

Those were the only two options I was given to check what mods are bad, but they haven't caught the problem.

The mods I use here as long as they are working fine I don't bother updating because it is tedious to check if each one has a new update. MO2 shows you if a nexus mod has a new version and Nexusmods shows if your downloaded files has new updates available.
Simsy McSimsface Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 What you asking for is not realistically feasible, there being thousands of mods and hundreds of thousands of CC being out there. Running a manual compatibility list that needs constant updating would be a gargantuan... and ultimately somewhat pointless task; nobody will do it. The truth is that YOU have to curate your OWN mods folder, ain't nobody's going to do it for you. Best practice is to add new stuff to your game in stages, don't just drop hundreds of new packages into your mods folder and call it a day. Here's some tips: Don't download too much shit. I know most players are massive hoarders - because they just have to get that 16374th high poly hair they'll never use - it will just slow your game down. Just have what you NEED, not what you WANT. A nice and lean mods folder with less than a 1000 CC and only a handful of script mods are not that hard to be kept up-to-date. SORT OUT YOUR MODS FOLDER! It's the best thing you can do for yourself on the long run. Make separate folders for all the CC you download (Hairs, shoes, skins, tops, bottoms, etc.), your future self will thank you for doing it. For new CC, have a separate folder within the mods folder called "new" or something, always add freshly downloaded stuff there first, start your game, and see if it runs properly. If it does, move them out of the "new" folder into their permanent residence. For script mods, add them one-by-one and check if your game is still running properly. Avoid merged CC packages like the plague! It might be enticing at first to just download a nice merged collection of 200 shoes from a dodgy russian website, but on the long run you will be just digging your own grave doing it. When you download a sim with "CC included", always check what's bundled with it before dropping everything into your mods folder. Some (TBH, most) sim makers are incompetent AF, and bundle all sort of shit with their downloads (like script mods) that shouldn't be included, simply because S4TI includes everything that is linked to a sim, and they're too lazy (or stupid) to manually check. Always be suspicious if a zip for a sim download is larger than 200Mb 5
GreyMouse Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 You want another tip to keep your shit straight? Pay attention and stop asking for others to do it for you. If you pick up a mod or CC from here, follow the thread and that way when the creator adds something new or updates it, you'll get a notification so that you can update all on your own. ?
