dexabcd Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 (Edit- I've moved this from the VR Forum) I'm new to fallout 4, I've learnt so much about modding thanks to this site and some of its members, From never modding a game before I managed to get fallout 4 modded to my idea of perfection. When it comes to VR tho I'm seeing tones of mixed reviews. Some have managed to set it up and others have error after error. I'm getting my new PC in the next few days (Waiting on it to be delivered) and I'm hoping by the time it comes I have some basic idea how to set FO4VR up, I know f4se has vr, MCM also. I believe AFF won't be patched but some use crazy's gun (not the same but its something) I came across a thread here on loverslab and the person said to install the mods you want onto fallout 4 and copy it all over into the fallout VR files..? Has anyone done this or could it work? Thanks

It can get bad on non VR at times, so why punish yourself more
unwashed biomass Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 FO4 vr is a no-go for lewd experience, Skyrim VR on other hand is pretty impressive on that matter.
dexabcd Posted June 20, 2022 Author Posted June 20, 2022 Thanks all, Maybe I'll try Skyrim. I haven't actually played it before and I've heard some good things. I bet fo4 would be incredible tho... but maybe it is a rabbit hole I should avoid. This post was made in 2017 I really thought by now some progress would be made. I guess the wishful thinking and hope's of the fo4 fan's are well dead and buried I managed to find that post I first spoke off, "copy the fallout 4 fills into the fallout VR folder. ------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- There's a couple of things that you need to do and a couple of ways of doing it Easy Method - if you already own 2D Fallout 4 1. Install 2D Fallout 4 and all DLC 2. Install all your mods that you want in the VR version to the 2D version using your Mod Manager 3. Copy all the new files (esp, esm etc) in the 2D Fallout 4 data folder including the sub folders and the DLC files to your Fallout 4 VR data folder. 4. Tricky bit - navigate to your local appdata folder - usually c:\users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\ (folder may be hidden) 5. In that folder you should have a Fallout4 and Fallout4VR folder. Copy DLCList.txt, loadorder.txt & plugins.txt from the Fallout4 folder to the Fallout4VR folder 6. Check your documents/my games/ fallout4VR/Fallout4VrCustom.ini file and ensure the following lines are present... [Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal= 7. Start Fallout 4 VR - all your mods should load. Tricky Manual Method 1. Manually copy the mods files into your Fallout4VR data folder. Which files you need to copy vary from mod to mod and some are setup to use the Mod Manager scripts to choose various versions etc so it can be tricky to workout which one you need. 2. Tricky bit - navigate to your local appdata folder - usually c:\users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Fallout4VR (folder may be hidden) 3. See if DLCList.txt, loadorder.txt & plugins.txt exist. If not create them or, if they do exist, edit them as follows... DLCList.txt - always the same (delete any DLC you don't own) DLCCoast.esm DLCNukaWorld.esm DLCRobot.esm DLCworkshop01.esm DLCworkshop02.esm DLCworkshop03.esm loadorder.txt - Fallout4_VR.esm is always 1st followed by your other mods, in this case Amoured Leotards. Fallout4_VR.esm CBBE.esp ApalLeotard.esp plugins.txt - this is the list of active esm/esp files. Active files are denoted by a * before them *CBBE.esp *ApalLeotard.esp 4. Check your documents/my games/ fallout4VR/Fallout4VrCustom.ini file and ensure the following lines are present... [Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal= 5. Start Fallout 4 VR - all your mods should load. Hope that helps
ebbluminous Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Just remember Skiyrim and F4 were never originally designed as VR games. Toddy slapped some stuff on later to resell them as VR games. Then modders make their mods for the nonvr games and do not consider the VR versions. The best course is try mods that have been specifically created for the VR versions then work from there. A lot of the non VR mods will require a patch or re-writing to get them to work in VR and it may not be possible at all. After realising the above, I decided it's not worth the effort to bother with VR SK/F4. I'd rather wait til Toddy releases something that is designed for VR from the start. Although I give it 2 years after Starfield's release til Toddy releases SF VR...
dexabcd Posted June 21, 2022 Author Posted June 21, 2022 Sorry about the late reply, Busy day. For some reason I believe I'm still going to try it. I know I'm going to waste a day? two days? I know and I know... But I have to try. Only because I think if I can even get it to 20% of what fallout 4 2D was.. It'll be fun. These epic games that your talking about are years away. fallout 5 could be 5 or 6 according to some online gaming sites. I can't wait that long :D
