SexLab Romance SE Dialogue Revision

Description

This mod revises the dialogue in SexLab Romance SE. It is an .esl-flagged .esp.

Philosophy and Changes Made

DISCLAIMER: The following section contains my personal opinions and is not meant to be taken as objective criticism.

SexLab Romance is fantastic because it's simple and provides opportunities for roleplaying scenarios. I am not a fan of how the dialogues are written. So, I revised them with the following principles in mind:

  • Simplification - The original lines are often too long-winded. I tried to make them more succinct.
  • Immersiveness (patent pending) - Most of the writing makes me feel like no one in or outside of Skyrim would actually say these things. Some of that is inevitable since we're adding sex to a game that doesn't feature it, but I tried to make the the lines less over-the-top so that it's at least plausible that a character could say them (maybe). I consulted the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages for lore considerations, especially for comments relating to Dibella and Mara. If nothing else, the dialogues will read marginally less like a bad porno script. I also tried to make the tone more neutral to fit in with the base game better and to open up roleplaying options. Use your imagination, be creative, etc.
  • Refinement - I tried to respect the original intent of a line when I could think of an way to salvage it. Besides changing and trimming out words, I channeled my inner grammar Nazi to try and make the English as clean and correct as possible*. No more dialogues that are split across lines with ellipses.

*If anyone notices a spelling or grammar error please let me know.

I only edited the "Dialog Topic" section and that is all that's contained in this file. No feature creep or going beyond the scope here. As such, this mod is a seperate plugin and not a replacer for the original.

Future Plans

  • wait for (constructive) feedback - no guarantees, but if you raise a good point I'll do something about it
  • I may revisit these edits on my own in the indeterminate future

I already have a suggestion for you. I know you want to keep it at dialogue only but could you potentially do something about "girlfriend and boyfriend" relationships too instead of only husband and wife. It's odd that that couple in whiterun so easily gave in while she has a boyfriend. While the dialogue is just a quick word change. I don't know how easy it is for adding the new dialogue because you have to make something new to make it work. i think.

Since there's no "in a relationship but not married" faction, adding conditions for specific NPCs is the only way I can think of to accomplish that. Plus, I'd have to learn how to make new lines as you said. It would be too much trouble with my current modding abilities.

also did the original mod improve relation over time or was that the "rekindled" version?

Hey umm. I've been using the rekindled version again because there's more to do in it than original. Can I use some parts of your dialogue to fix the unchanged ones? Or is it possible that your mod also works with this one?

Edit: nevermind it seems to work too on that version. i'm prolly gonna see a lot of inconsitencies tho.
