Something messed with armor slots

Not sure what I did to cause this, but now if I try to put on a bikini top (from TAWOBA, edited to make SL Survival a master to add its bikini keywords) it unequips the bikini bottom, and vice versa.   Not sure how to troubleshoot this because I don't know how to see in game what slots a piece of armor takes.

Recently I changed bodies to COSIO and added the pubic hair for women SOS add-on.  I mention that because it only displays the pubic hair if a certain slot is not in use.

Also I added NPC Clothes Changer and Maintainer (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11662) which shouldn't be a problem but I've noticed that sometimes outfits I put on the NPCs sometimes eventually do this same thing... I have the Crux Wild negligee from Melodic and the skirt and top become either/or and can't be equipped on the npc simultaneously.

I  have DD's device hider settings all disabled, and I don't use Half Naked Cover in SL Survival.  Dunno if either of them could be involved.

I don't know where to look to fix this, please help.  Thank you!   :)

Skyrim TesVedit, https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25859

With that you can look up the Slot numbers on the items.

Or,

Use Nifskope, dont have the link for that yet, but basically do a search for Nifskope.

Using those programs however well that takes time, learning and posting complicated instructions here when there are likely some documents around will cost me a lot of time.

IF your not interested in figuring out how to use those,

My advice would be to go to the download comments sections for the various mods you downloaded and ask there about the slot numbers.

Baseline default for TOWABA is the following from memory, assuming you downloaded it from Nexus,

Bra's are slot 32 same as any vanilla chest piece.

Panties are slot 52 which is the same as Schlongs, slot 52 is often used for 3D pubic hair although those are often built for SOS use.

Slot 52 is used for chastity belts for Devious Devices.

It is possible to make slot 52 play nicely for DD, SOS, and Panties but I cannot remember if there was any special thing to be done to make them all behave.

I dont know anything about NPC clothes manager and maintainer, sorry I just wont use it when for SkyrimLE Amazing Follower Tweaks is ideal for handling that and it works nicely with Devious Device gameplay.

I use Nethers Follower Framework for SkyrimSE, also allows management of npc clothing.

Not too sure how many people actually use fancy clothing managers while playing with DD installations, I know that as a contributer for DD development that mostly end users were expected to use a real follower manager such as AFT or EFF for SkyrimLE.

I use EFF but haven't looked at its wardrobe function, I assumed it was only for followers?  I got tired of manually adding and equipping the fancy clothes from mods onto random NPCs as I pass through their cities, so I looked up and found that one.  Works pretty well but after awhile either it forgets or something happens and the NPCs end up naked, so I have to use the console commands anyway.  I haven't started using it on my current playthrough so I'll uninstall and see if that affects the situation.

Pretty sure EFF and AFT wardrobe are only for followers.

Not sure I have heard of people wanting to alter the wardrobe of non-followers.

However your getting into a mixed bag of issues, wardrobes in general for NPC were not actually designed to be changed.

You would have to familiarize yourself with that issue to get a better idea on it than I can manage to explain.

Basically the NPC is stuck with its default outfit, you leave long enough the NPC will revert to its default outfit and that is by design.

As far as I understand mods that allow changing out the gear do so with active scripts, which basically have to fire off every time you come back to NPC...Although its not something I have looked into with any seriousness because its not my interest to change an outfit of a non-follower.

Mostly when I have wanted to do something to an npc non-follower outfit package, I create a mod file that tells the game that the outfit I want them wearing is their default outfit.
