Question about E-Mail providers

Does anyone know of a good e-mail provider "Other Then" Outlook or G-mail and one that doesn't require having an account with either of those?

I thought about Opera Mail but that is just a UI that just uses a current account with MS or Google. I've searched but most I've seen are nothing more then User Interfaces that attach to an existing account. Google and Outlook are just not safe at all any more.

Try Lavabit, it offers both free and paid e-mail accounts and can be accessed either through a POP3/IMAP email client or a web interface, totally anonymous, been using it for years since they were nerdshack.com. www.lavabit.com
