How to get started?

Is there a consolidated place I can go to get a jumpstart on how to mod Skyrim outside of the nexus and steam workshop?

 

I've been hunting through these forums for a few days but I still can't even get my body replacers working. 

 

Also, any tips on a mod manager?

Why wouldn't you want to use Nexus or Steam?

 

Pretty much all of the mods that you are going to need are from the Nexus. Body mods, Animation mods, Cosmetic mods, etc etc are all from Nexus. You can't really mod Skyrim without the Nexus, unless you find alternate sites that host those same files (and it would be tough finding all the mods you need and have them being updated on alternate sites instead of Nexus).

 

As for a Mod Manager, I think FOMM still works for Skyrim.

 

But again as I said, why avoid Nexus? You are going to have one hell of a time trying to mod your game without it.
