(CK) Created an accidental Mastery Loop

Worst Case Scenario, I'll just redownload a virgin copy of Hentai Creatures.

Been updating Hentai Creatures to have more summons from the demonic creatures pack and decided for my vampire to make a custom Vampire Cattle thrall that was pre equipped with a collar. Now somewhere between offloading a custom creature, this custom thrall, and renaming the collar (seriously, "hentai collar" does not fit the theme of Skyrim) Managed to make HC have this test esp (OgrinDarSacrificialVictimTest01.esp called test for simplicity) (esp/esm? I don't remember how it works) as a master while that esp has HC as it's master. Now LOOT can not sort because of the mastery loop.

I've not had much experience yet in CK so I'm not sure how to go about correcting the look and removing the test file as a master of HC.

Would it be as simple as setting the test esp as the active file and removing all the custom files first, or is a specific change to this or HC what could be creating the loop?

Edit: For a bit more detail, normally when adding new creatures to the list of HC spells I just save HC directly, but for the cattle, I exported it. At some point going back to edit the cattle to fix some issues I must have loaded HC and the test out of order, possibly selecting test as a master and setting HC as the active. That's where I think the problem occured.

It's probably easiest to use xEdit to remove anything that you added from the test esp and then select clean masters on HC. That should fix your problem.

I'll try that out. Never used xEdit, do I'm guessing you mean specifically the TES5Edit distro?

Okay so the solution was much more simple than that. I loaded xEdit and it told me the same thing, couldn't load because of cyclical references, but by using that dialogue I was able to find that all i needed to do was open Creation Kit, select HC them go to it's masters, highlight the test.esp and hit CTRL+DEL to delete it as a master. Saved HC after doing that and problem solved.

You can manually delete masters from the CK, and I guess it was the best solution here. Just keep in mind it might leave references to a master that no longer exists and cause crashes later.

Possibly, but i figure that since I'm not even sure how I caused the master loop in the first place, it's likely i just flagged the test esp as a master while i was working on the other esp
