Fallout New Vegas "Error: Out of Memory"

Hi all,

 

Solved the issue I was haivng last night thanks to dborg2 for the advice. However, I have ran into another issue tonight. After loading the game a few seconds later the game freezes and I get a pop up saying "Error: out of memory". I have the 4gb patch and anti stutter, but I am still having this issue. Does anyone know how to prevent this issue. Thanks!

Since you already have the 4GB patch, try increasing heap size in the stutter remover, and maybe get ahold of NVAC and YUP.

Almost sounds like you're overloading the engine, but I'm not seeing anything heavy enough in your modlist to cause it.

Thank you for your advice. I got ahold of the recommended mods and attempted to increase the heap size but I do not know if I am doing it right increase the heap size. I edited the "DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB" and set it to 500 as recommended by a forum I found. I removed the mod The happy place and so far I am no longer getting the error. What would be causing this issue and do you know of any work arounds as I am intrested in playing this mod. Thanks so much for your help.

In the stutter remover INI, you want to find these two lines, and make sure they read like this:

 

Under Master=   

 bReplaceHeap = 1

 

Under Heap=

iHeapSize = (number)  <-- make sure the number is not below 512, and is a multiple of 256.

 

As for The Happy Place mod being the problem, there are some things you can experiment with to help. First, make sure you have the dependencies, in this case Dead Money DLC and this:

Second, see you have it in the right load order. LOOT tends to be halfway useless, and BOSS is a tad obsolete, so you may have to arrange it yourself based on what kind of mod that it is and where it goes in the load order. There are a number of guides to help with this, but the one in my signature tends to help with older Bethesda games.

Finally, if it's still crashing with the "out of memory" error, we'll need to see if something else in the modlist is conflicting or overriding. But do the first two steps and we'll go from there.
