Connector196 Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 So I've recently been wanting to figure out how to script using Papyrus so I can start learning how to make more complex mods. I use the Creation Kit through MO2 and everything works fine when I write scripts and compile them using the Creation Kit itself because I've looked up how to do it. My problem is I want to use Notepad++ as an external editor because it would be much more helpful to me but when I tried to do it the first time it let out an error about not finding the application. I've already set up Notepad++ to handle Papyrus, I just don't know how to get the Creation Kit (which I launch through MO2) to recognize that Notepad++ is what I want to use to edit and compile scripts.
Subcentz Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 (edited) Hey, diving into scripting with Papyrus sounds like an exciting journey! I remember when I wanted to switch to using Notepad++ for editing scripts outside of Creation Kit—it took some tinkering to get everything synced up. One trick that worked for me was setting up Notepad++ as the default editor for Papyrus files in Windows settings. Have you tried that? It might help MO2 and Creation Kit recognize Notepad++ as your preferred editor. I also use notesonline for keeping track of these setup tips—it's great for jotting down steps and tweaks for future reference. Edited July 3, 2024 by Subcentz
