Mautine88 Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 I download a lot of sims from here, and I have to fix too many people archives before I import them into my game. So I thought I would give some info into the best practices of uploading custom sims. I took all of this knowledge from my summer hero mrakkonn. You should download one of his sims for an example of what I am about to tell you. A lot of simmers don’t do this, but if I had my way all of them would. first thing you should do is organize your cc. If you have tons of cc this could take a long time, and I can see my most skip it. If you do though it will make uploading your sims infinitely easier. Secondly, when downloading cc make sure you never download merged cc and always download separate .package files. Merged Cc packs are sometimes hundreds of MB large, and will bloat your download file more than anything else. now. When you use tray importer, that isn’t the end of your job, not if you want a respectable size archive, and if you want that archive free of unneeded cc and mods. use whatever extracted program you have, and extract your sim. It should have a mods folder and the tray files. Personally I like to create a tray folder for those tray files for ease of use. then go into your mods folder. Make sure that folder only contains cc. If you don’t clean it, whoever downloads your sim has to, or risk damaging their save, and their sims mods folder. Remove and defaults you use, that include body meshes, skin tones, eye colors, foot. Remove and gameplay mods. This include wicked whims, roburky, etc. remove and custom traits, and careers. If you must, you should include a separate folder with the custom traits and carreers, because if those become outdated they can damage a persons save. After that, break up your folder into 210mb chunks and re-archive them. I do this manually because the automated separated included in 7zip always breaks my archive. that’s it. Happy summing.
