CTD when hitting NPC

Hello. I have a specific issue. it seems like when I attack a not actively hostile npc, my game crashes. So this means I can't really sneak kill people, or attack guards, etc. I thought at first it was enhanced blood but that seems not to be the issue. Any advice? Note that in ordinary combat this doesn't seem to apply. Likely unrelated but I had another mod, Animalica, which is now uninstalled. In every instance I hit one of those animals the game CTD-ed. I'm wondering if its a sound mod. Any help would be appreciated.
