CBBE physics don't work when nude

Recommended Posts

I'm new to skyrim and modding. I've had previous experience modding CP2077 but it felt easier. I'm using Vortex to do everything, LOOT to sort and I always run FNIS every time I add anything related to it. As the post implies, when initiating in any sex scenes or nude, the physics stop working on the characters. They work fine under clothing and amour but outside of it, doesn't work. For reference, it worked fine when I installed it initially but I think something with sexlab may have affected it, I'm not sure

In Vortex, check the Manage Rules tab above your mod list and make sure nothing is overwriting XPMSSE. Maybe something is overwriting your skeleton_female.hkx file, which is what XMPSSE sets in place.

Also, be sure you built your nude body in Bodyslide. You'll want to build the nude body and its arms and feet by pressing the big Build button in the center-middle of the Bodyslide menu. Be sure to select your physics-enabled body (BHUNP, 3BA, CBBE Physics, etc) from the Outfit/Body dropdown box just above the Preset box.

I hope this helps!

I followed your instructions to the letter. Took me a bit to understand bodyslide but I did that too. One file was overwriting XPMSSE which was The joy of perspective. Unfortunately, Thee problem hasn't been solved. Thanks for your advice tho!

I do have another problem. Fertility mode doesn't seem to work correctly. When I looked around, I found that fertility mode was being overwritten by CBBE and racemenu mods. I tired reordering them so that Fertitilty mode would run after loading CBBE, racemenu and its affiliates but its returning an error loop in that they are both relying on each other. I tried following what this guy did to reorder but can't seem to get a workaround. Hoping you might shed some light on this

Try uninstalling Joy of Perspective and reinstalling XPMSSE without the JoP patch, then start a new game on a fresh save. Joy of Perspective can cause a lot of problems, so maybe that will help. If so, you'll know JoP is the problem for all this stuff.

That didn't work either. Thanks for the suggestion with the improved camera mod! I think I'm just going to remove the last three mods I've installed. I always added three and made a new save incase something wrong like this may happen. Will update if the problem has something to do with sexlab since I think thats when it first started

Also, looking at your load order again, it looks like you upgraded to Anniversary Edition. It might be some time until a lot of mods are made compatible with it. Definitely check your installed mods to make sure they work with AE, and if they don't, there are mods on Nexus that allow you to roll back your Skyrim install to Special Edition where you shouldn't have so many mod issues.

Open Nifskope, import your femalebody_1 nif and make screen. It is probably a NiNode problem . I had the same problem and solved it like that

Yup, picked it up when it went on sale last Friday. Didn't think to much about the anniversary edition. But looking back, I'm starting to notice that several problems have been due to the how much time has passed since its launch and its incompatibility with the popular mods.

Thank you for suggesting to downgrade! right now I'm focused on Skyrim and I don't want to wait for patches to come out before something else piques my interest haha!

So removed my mods slowly and still couldn't find which mod was affecting physics. I'll have to reinstall skyrim fresh and new again. And as @CuddlyBun said earlier, I'll downgrade skyrim back to before the Anniversary update. Which mod would do that? And would it stop steam from updating it to the latest?

The downgrade mod is found on Nexus here.

NifScope is a tool used to make and modify textures and meshes iirc. I have no experience with it, so I can't help there.

As for Steam auto-updating your Skyrim install, go into the game's settings in Steam and set it to update only when run, then only start the game thru the SKSE launcher you set up in Vortex. The path in Steam is Right Click on Skyrim -> Properties -> Updates -> Automatic Updates -> Only update this game when I launch it.

Roll your install back to SE and try your modlist again. If you still have problems, the issue is something mod-specific and will require more testing and fixes like @Lestat1627 suggested with NifScope.

Textures cannot be modified, only remapped on the mesh UV. You'd want Paint.net for textures. Now meshes, yeah you can do a ton there. I've been using NifSkope for years to work meshes over. Mostly for adjustments, recycled mesh projects, and LE to SE converting.

@ReverendFelix @CuddlyBun I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!

In case you didn't know, I got the game on Black Friday and placed mods in w/o any idea what I was doing. In the week after saying that  I was going to do a fresh reinstall, I payed as much attention as I could to the world of modding, even made the transtiion to MO2 which I was against before. I even learned how to use and what was the purpose of bodyslide. Right now I'm almost a 100 mods in and all of them are working correctly! I expected a crash somewhere haha! It wasn't however after reaching Whiteruns "breeze" home that I noticed it stopped again. Clearly whatever was the case for it happening again had to be a mod I installed previously that's somehow overwriting the CBBE style (I'm now using 3BBB, complicated!).

If you look at my previous mod list, you'll find a mod called "Sofia follower". Before meeting her, everything worked correctly. As it turns out, her bodyshape is vastly different than CBBE which apparently was the cause of the problem. I guess it was overwriting the physics files? I'm not too sure. I removed that mod but it still wasn't working. but since I learned how  bodyslide works and its purpose, I rebuilt the bodies and lo and behold, IT WORKED!

Granted there are still some minor issues here and there but nothing as major as this! Wanted to give a small update since @CuddlyBun helped me out so much when I had no idea what I was doing. Although I am curious, knowing that the issue comes from that mod, would there be a workaround to use that mod w/o it doing what it did?

Oh btw, I downgraded to 1.5.97 of SSE instead of the AE, BEST IDEA EVER! Mods work much more smoothly here thanks to that downgrader patch you mentioned @CuddlyBun

If you are talking about "Sofia, the funny voiced follower", she is a stand alone follower. And in no way would that mod affect your body install. She is 'safe' to install. And a very good ally to have at your side. I vouch for that mod 100%, there is a CBBE upgrade mod for her too. But the skin textures aren't very good and the body is basic (no physics I think). I ended up replacing her body and textures to 3BA with the textures that come with CBBE.

Anyway, I'm happy for you on sorting out WTF was going wrong?

I wish it wasn't that mod that did it and I agree, she's great to have around! But that was the only mod I removed and it fixed the issue I had. Now that I know that was the source of the error, I am hoping that CBBE upgrade/patch would align the mod to work with the physics I have. Maybe physic supported clothing doesn't work since she has no physics.

If you were able to do it, could you tell me the steps to take? I'm not sure if she will work with the CBBE 3BBB

Yeah no problem. First skip getting the patch, we're gonna do mod surgery! Second, make a back up of Sofia's assets just in case. What you need to do is copy the necessary body and texture files, and replace the ones Sofia comes with. So start by finding her body folder; Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Meshes\actors\character\Sofia. Then in another window open; Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Meshes\actors\character\character assets.

Copy these files and then paste them into Sofia's body folder;

Done. Her body is now the same as your main body install.

Now for the textures open Sofia's Texture folder; Skyrim Special Edition\Data\textures\actors\character\Sofia. And again in another window open; Skyrim Special Edition\Data\textures\actors\character\female.

Copy these files and then paste them into Sofia's texture folder;

And that should do it! The result should be obvious in game. Let me know if there are any problems.

That worked out brilliantly! Granted it took me a while to find the files, MO2 works a heck of a lot more differently than vector when it comes to sorting files; worth the trade off in the long run haha

Thanks for that guide @ReverendFelix!!!!

This reply is so old but I was so lost and needed to select a CBBE Physics. So thank you :3
