FNIS help

Ok so bear with me here.

I am very new to Skyrim modding, especially adult modding. I've been trying to install FNIS, but I have some problems with it.

I've watched hella videos and looked at other posts w the same issue, but i don't understand half of what they even mean lol. I'm not very tech savy in general so I might sound dumb for not understanding this, but asking for help seems to be my only option at this point.

My issue is the whole "bad installation" thingy with mo2. I do the steps of installing fnis and all that, then making an executable and running it. I know the reason for the issue, atleast what people say is that it has something to do with the path and that mo2 doesnt install fnis correctly, or something. But it doesnt seem like I can install FNIS correctly no matter how many different ways I've tried. Here's my error page thingy when I try to run it:

(Btw i have FNIS at the top of my load order)

FNIS Behavior V7.6   11/20/2021 6:59:15 PM

A few things to note here is that usually whe I've tried to install FNIS I get told to rick click Data and press "set as data directory", but when I try it firstly says that the "the content of data does not look valid", and when I then right click data it says "Set as <data> directory" instead. This whole thing is just a mess, and I would love to get a clear idea of what to do to get this shit to work, as even when I don't have FNIS installed my character just T poses. Thank you. I can obviously list any info you need

Not much to say, you are missing things.

If you're new, do yourself a favor and use Vortex. Does all the work for you.

So damn easy to set rules, reinstall mods, set up load order and automatically warning you about conflicts. Lets you deal/fix it right away with a few clicks.

I have no experience with mo2.

If you're new, use a guide if you're planning to install from here. Mods needs requirements. Read and read again.

Mods pages has comments/post page. Read those too before downloading mods. Can save you alot of bs and fix possibles issues.

Skeleton(hkx) female: Default (99 bones)   male: Default (99 bones)

Launch  FNIS from the indicated path

No good.  Missing Skeleton HDT. Correct installation involves 126 bones .  Install XPMS(S)E

I have a LOT of mods installed atm so is there a way to directly transfer them from mo2 to vortex that you know of? and will switching to a new mod manager in some way affect my game?

I have XPMSE for special edition installed, i even reinstalled it. The path FNIS wants me to launch skyrim from doesnt exist, Like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users Isn't there. After \Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\data it stops, the "tools" folder isnt there

You're better of starting from scratch.

It will definitely affect your game, because you are probably going to set up a new load order.

This way you can also find the problem you have now, by simply installing mods at a time instead of a couple at once. (Highly recommended if installing mods from this site)

As for animations, you really need to double check if you got the correct SE version. All mods actually.

Thats my advise. Im not a mo2 user.

Barely had any problems with mods using Vortex. The only problem i had was getting ctd on dlc's, but that was because i did not read carefully and installed oldrim textures (banner replacers)

Thanks, my load order needs some fresh blood anyways.

By your screenshot on installing fnis you need to right click on data folder and set as data folder.  MO only handles the data folder in its virtual file system. Anything that belongs in the skyrim folder needs to be installed manually. In fnis's case there is only a text file and a sample script which can be ignored (as in don't install those manually.)

For your issue of not having the right amount of bones. Something is overwriting the skeleton. Right click xpmse on the left pane and click information/conflicts. A lot of mods put in their own skeleton for some reason.

As for setting up fnis to work in MO. Easier for you to watch a guide than for me to explain it.

I would'nt bother starting from scratch. If your data folder on your skyrim installation is clean then with MO you are always at scratch and have all the information you need to fix it.
