Dracogena Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Hi everyone. I was following this forum for quite a while and finally decided to add something. (I appologize if was brought up already, but I didn't find it) Ok... what is Smite? Basicly it's moba like League of Legends or Dota, but from 3rd person perspective so in my opinion its much more intense (and fun... don't hit me). Almost every ability is skillshot and you play as one of gods or mythical beeings. Game is now in open beta. Release is planned at the end of summer I think. pros + fun casual modes yet high scaling competitive play good graphics (if your machine is good enough body physics are hilarious) it's FREE with standard business model and great deals (god pack for every released and future god alike) did I mentioned fun? cons - still beta, so some bugs may occure may not be playable on older machines due to graphics requirements (I have P520 Dual-Core proc with 4GB RAM and Radeon HD 5470 with 512MB and it's playable so you can compare) so... if you're interested just register here or use my shameless referall
formel Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 I have to agree the game is quite fun to play. Overall it is a bit more causal as DOTA. I find the direct controll via the WASD-keys more pleasant than the mouse controll in DOTA (only one unit is for me too insufficient for this perspective ). The whole last hiting and farming in the early game is not that important as in DOTA what is also to my liking. The game it self is at a higher pace and a average game on a classical three lane map takes ca. 30-40 min. Also positiv is its broader variety of game modes beside the conquest mode (classic map with three lanes) there is aslo assault (only one lane) domination (map with three controll points, when a team hold two the opposing team loses points, team with zero points loses) and arena (more like team death match, you have to kill enemy creeps or gods or guide your creeps to the enym base reduce the points of enemy team, again team with zero points loses). There are 10 gods freely available five of them are fixed the other five rotate every 2 weeks I think. In the training mode against the KI all gods are playable, but the KI realy sucks. All gods can be acquired without money per fame which you gain by playing matches (and more by winning them) but that will take a long time for all gods. To the cons: I have the feeling the matchmaking is not that good, often played againts teams which were ridiculous easy to defeat and on the other hand played against teams that stamped us into the ground with no problems. The skills in DOTA are more imaginative than in smite at the moment (this may or may not change with the addition of more gods, but the 3rd person perspective provides here some limitations I think) So overall it's worth a try when you have an intreset in these MOBA-games or in pvp-games. Download is ca. 3gb when I rember correctly
Veta Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 pros + good graphics (if your machine is good enough body physics are hilarious) Here let me fix that for you average graphics. As for the game , I had gotten in back in closed beta but haven't played many MOBA games to compare it I also have to say they are way overrated (MOBA).
Dracogena Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 pros + good graphics (if your machine is good enough body physics are hilarious) Here let me fix that for you average graphics. As for the game , I had gotten in back in closed beta but haven't played many MOBA games to compare it I also have to say they are way overrated (MOBA). Don't know when you played, graphics has undergone few changes. Yes when you play at lowest graphics (purely for smoothest gameplay) you have average graphics. But if you have beastly machine thats something different. As for MOBA genre... yeah... we are starting to have too many games (wait for E3, certainly there will be some announced). But if game have enough differences or is somewhat unique, I think it's ok.
