selectable idles by player during gameplay

How do I make an Idle selectable by the PC? I cant seem to find anywhere that specifies how do get it done. I have tried taking apart a few of the mods that I have seen do it successfully but 

I cant seem to get it to work for the life of me. Basically all I am trying to do is make an animation that I added to the game usable by the player. I can get the NPC to use it but I can not. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry that last part may have been confusing. I just want the player to walk up to where I have the idle box located and be able to select it and start the animation the way you would select say a chair to sit in.
