Don't get me wrong I like them but thanks to them Grace Darkling has made her Mods Blog friends only now you have to wait till she posts them on Nexus to get her new stuff.

Yeah it pissed me off too. I went there to see if she had any updates on her hairs or some new armor that she was working on and BAM friends only.

 

This is one of the problems with some sites they don't ask the author if they can host a mod on their site they just do it, I've seen the same thing with video encoding sites take your work and post it to other sites without asking you.

I know what you mean I've only ever talked to her once and that was just to ask a question about one of her mods.

Judging by her use of the word "culture" I think it is more like they are either being overly rude/vulger or taking her mods and posting them elsewhere without permission

According to the member search she isn't a member of LL I searched for the two names she is known by but like you said I doubt she would elaborate on the exact reason why even if she was a member.

 

We can only hope that she will eventually remove the friend only restriction.

I really don't understand the 'don't repost without permission' thing.

 

I mean, I'll respect the mod author's wishes but releasing something on the internet and then getting irked about it being reposted elsewhere without permission? It's inevitable that it's going to get reposted, just by the nature of the internet. And if it's a mod that everyone likes, it's going to show up everywhere...

It depends on how it is being used. you might not mind if a mod you made was just posted somewhere else (I know I wouldn't) but what if your mod is posted to a site designed so that the person posting it can make money off of it would you still be fine with it once you learned that?

 

I'd be furious if I found out a mod I made was making someone else money.

 

P.s. I'm not saying this is what happened it's only an example.

Dragonporn didn't even reupload Grace's stuff.  Every article they have about it only links directly to the blog page, not even to the 4Shared or Mediafire links.  Wait for some actual information to come out before getting angry at them.

It's a case of pinning the blame, partially. While Dragonporn did nothing inherently wrong, the users that were redirected to Grace's blog did. 

 

Those whom are upset can't go after those users because, on the internet, we're all a blob with varying shades of green and red. But the website that those people used to go there? That's a tantalizing target to focus some anger at.

 

Personally, this should be talking about people on the internet and not so much a website they used. Terrible people use LL to get access to things as well, yet we don't bash LL, we bash the users.

 

...Or Nexus. Nexus gets a lot of flak.

The guy(s) who run Dragonporn did nothing wrong. It's retarded to blame the Dragonporn blog for this. If I had to take a guess: It's just another case of delicate and sensitive feelings being hurt and causing someone to restrict or take down stuff. This is nothing new and this won't be the last case. The fact that there is no real explanation given other than a vague comment about someone doing something that one might possibly interpret as a negative thing makes me think that this is most likely the case. I mean, "thanks to guys who read the DP-blog and their culture", what kind of a statement is that.

 

 

Plus, any kind of "Punish everyone for the mistakes of a few" action is not something that should be defended, ever. Imo.

That said, and not to be 'that person', if you're going to post stuff on the internet and have it publicly available in the first place it's going to end up bloody everywhere, that's just a fact of e-life. There will be critics, there will be trolls and on occasion there will be people that truly give two hoots. How these groups are perceived and handled is up to the person in question. In this case, *someone* probably struck a tender nerve and activated the "this is my stuff and I don't have to share it if I don't want to" defenses.

 

As much as I love Grace's work (if you ever come here i want your autograph) this does come across as a little drastic, but on another level, understandable in that - as someone above mentioned - it is her/his choice.
