New animator similar to Flash

Hello,

for some reasons, I am willing to create a "pseudo-2D" animation system similar to what was done in the past with Flash.

Probably oriented to animating (mostly 2D) cartoon characters.

And probably with IK and easy way to define animations.

For sure it will be a long project (a few months at least, probably more than 6 months.)

The goal was to provide a tool to do old flash (adult) games.

(My goal is not really to do games, it is more to build the framework.)

What you think? Better to avoid starting a project like this?

It... depends.

flash is not as used and supported like it ever used to, so it is a risky step.

I don't plan to "use" flash.

I was going to build a cartoon animation system.

Ik Ik, I meant it for the similar part and the old adult (flash) games, but if you plan to make it easier to use than flash, then go ahead, easier is always better when it comes to this, best of wishes.

I am just on the thinking stage.

Where I am deciding what will be possible and how I will do it.

I did not yet decided if I go with SVG style curves (polygons, like Flash) or with simple sprites with cartoon shading for the borders.

What type of scale would the program be? Would it be only to make short animations, longer animations, or new in-depth games? Maybe all of them? If so, perhaps there is already a program out there that already does that. What would your program do better than others? Not trying to discourage you, the more options there are, the better. Those are just the type of questions I ask myself before involving myself in a big project such as this one.

Just short anims.

But after some tests yesterday and a lot of "that is old, why you do it" I will probably do a different project.
