Custom Follower request

I've been tyring for the last 2 days to make a custom follower with no results.

I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong either.

My first attempt, worked perfectly as far as the appearence goes.

But somethign went wrong with the voice, and my follower repeatedly yelled things at me like "Hey slug breath" in a voice that sounded like it was comming from far off in a cave. She also wouldn't function as a follower.

My second attempt wasn't much better. After multiple tries, I finally got the follower function working, but the appearance wouldn't show properly (using appachiiskyhair, and enhanced character edit for purple hair). But now the facegen data won;t even export properly, so now not only id the appearance not correct,  but the face is miscolored.

So if anyone who knows what they're doing wouln't mind making this follower for me, I'd grreatly appreciate it.

As far as stats go, I'm really only concerned with sneak, and archery. with melee and light armor as secondary skills .

I don't need the follower placed in the game world, nor does she need  preset armor/weapons.

And the follower should be named "Atrixia Sicarius".

The NPC file I created in skyrim to make the follower with is here.

Edit: this is also my first time positng here, so if this is in the wrong section, I apologize.

Just posted this to a friend in a PM, it might help you out. First delete your current follower plugin entirely and start from scratch.

Then follow these steps.

First you have to go into Skyrim, create a character head you want to use in the chargen menu, and then bring up the console while in third person view. Then click yourself the ref ID should show 0000014 in the console if you have yourself selected. Once you have yourself selected you type SPF charactername.

This will export your head mesh to the base Skyrim directory. Which is something you'll need for creating a custom follower.

Then open the CK with just the Skyrim master and the Apachii masters checked(If you're using Apachii Sky Hair)

Once loaded, click on the resource tree, and open Actors, go to the race you want the NPC to be and choose either racemale/racefemale depending on that. Then in the list that comes up in the menu follow the following steps.

1.) Choose an NPC, duplicate it, and open the duplicate form, in the character form, change reference ID, name, and short name. Click yes when the CK asks you if you want to save the new form.

2.) Choose a race, set weight, choose a pre-designed voice, set disposition to around 60 - 80 to ensure NPC likes you enough to follow you without any predefined script checks.

3.) Click on traits, choose a class from the list, there is a combatranger class in there I believe though I'm not looking at the CK right now.

4.) Click over to Factions, add PotentialFollowerFaction and leave that as 0, add CurrentFollowerFaction and set that to -1, add PotentialMarriageFaction and leave that as 0, click on Relationships, create new relationship, set ParentNPC to the NPC's name if its not already set, set child NPC to Player and set status to Ally, or lover, or whatever as long as its not enemy or nemesis its pretty much good to go.

5.) Click on Inventory, add a base outfit, or, manually add armors to their inventory, or just leave them naked and dress them later using UFO or AFT.

6.)Now the "hard part", click on Chargen Parts, just click the Import button and choose the .npc file in your main Skyrim directory, change eye color to taste, add your Apachii hair from the list of hairs in the hair field.

7.)Save the form, then click on the name of the character in the actors list of the race you made them...hit CTRL+F4 to avoid the gray face bug. Wait til you get the dialog that says you've successfully exported the characters face tintmask and skintone data.

8.) Click on the Cell View menu, make sure you're on Interiors, find RiverwoodSleepingGiantInn, load that up, then drag and drop your new NPC into the interior, in the 3D window, then go to Data, save, and name your plugin whatever you like.

Via this process you should be able to go to the Sleeping Giant Inn and Atrixia will be sitting around eating bread waiting for you to pick her up.

What? Its not hard.

Well the main issue I'm having now that I have a functioning follower, who will in fact actually follow me, and has a correct voice setup, is the appearence will not work out.

I've tried loading the skyrim and apachii master files thinking that would help, but every time the CK gives me an error saying it can't load 2 master files at once. How do I get around that?

Posted

Open the SkyrimEditor.ini in the skyrim main directory and insert on the top directly under [General]

bAllowMultipleMasterFiles=1
bAllowMultipleMasterLoads=1

That should help.

I'm not seeing that file anywhere. Would it be in the CKs files?

Edit: I take that back, something was wrong with my CK files, and they weren't showing up. I thought they were in a different directory.

Verified integrity of the tool files and they all magically re-appeared.

I still cant seem to figure out what Im doing wrong.

I got the hairstyle working properly, but the facegendata still won't properly export, so I have a discolored face in game.

I can't get the purple hair working either, and now she no longer functions as a follower.

I made one step forward, and about 3 back.

Edit: Ok so I got the follower function working again.

Still no properly exporting facegendata or purple hair.

Once you're in the actors list of the CK make sure your custom follower is highlighted (i.e. selected in blue) and press ctrl+F4. I do this either side of saving the .esp (edit: don't ask why. I've had enough problems with the discolour issue in the past. I suppose I'm leaving nothing to chance).

For the colour hair you need to add a new hair colour option. The following link explains how...

That's what I had been doing, sometimes it will even export the facegendata, and still show up discolored in game. It's not really making any sense at all.

I did get the hair color working at least. Now I just have to figure out why the face is still comming out discolored.

Edit: ok, so now it turns out that the discoloration was being caused by using another mod in the CK for eye color, which I can live without.

My one last issue, if anyone can tell me how to fix this one, is changing the lip color, and I should be all set with this.

I tried selecting "lips.dds" in the face tint layers, and then changing the color in the "face tinting color" menu to the right of that, but it doesnt seem to effect anything in game.

Is there anyone who can help me with this last minor issue regarding the makeup? (Eyeshadow/lips)

Yes, the CK doesn't handle high res textures and tintmasks very well, so what you need to do is remove the make up entirely in the CK.

Then get NPC Editor from the Nexus if you don't already have it. Install it and load up the program and let it scan your data directory.

Now find your NPC in the NPC list, and then do the make up and tintmask adjustments in that program and save the NPC data to a directory on your desktop.

Now, in that folder there will be an esp file, and a meshes and textures directory, if you have not changed the facial structure of the character at all, simply cut and paste the textures directory directly into your skyrim/data folder, this will place the make up tintmasks you designed in the NPC Editor in the textures\actors\character\facegendata\facetint\skyrim.esm directory path which will then properly display the make up tintmasks on the character.
