ivanoff Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 I just ordered a Oculus Quest 2 and waiting for it to come in. There was a sale on Skyrim VR on Steam so I bought it. (thinking about getting Fallout 4 VR also) Due to having a bad back I am not sure if I will be able to play it standing up or not. I would like to play it sitting down in a swivel chair. I was reading that you can use a "couch mode" in the Oculus Headset to designate where you will be sitting. Also I have heard that you can use VRIK to change your height. Which is the best way? Or is there another way. While on the subject of VRIK I downloaded something called VRIK avatar from Nexus and also downloaded a file from here just called VRIK. The only difference is the build was different (one was 8.0 and the other was 8.1) Are these the same files? (Adding the "avatar" part confused me) Also I see that you can pair a gamepad to the Quest 2. I have a PS4 DualShock. Since hopefully I will be sitting down, which type controller is better to play with? Sorry for dumb questions, but it is my first VR headset other than the Gear VR. Thanks.
waterii Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Hi, I too bought SkyrimVR during the ongoing sale and have played it while sitting down with the Quest 2 without doing any tricks or fixes. I haven't tried using other types of controllers but I'd think you'd lose abilities like selfie mode in VRIK and I'm not sure how they would get a normal controller DualShock controller working in VR. Also handrests might get in the way if you want to use holsters (im not sure if the Quest 2 supports them though, at least I haven't yet gotten them to work.) Your character will most likely look quite goofy since the hands are above waist hight and close to your chest when resting them on the armrests. My inital performance was quite bad and downright unplayable when using the Oculus Link so I'd suggest you to download OpenComposite and use it instead of SteamVR. I got massive performance gains from that. Concering your concern on the 0.8.0 and 0.8.1 versions is that the 0.8.1 version is the beta build which you should use, they are just named differently. I didn't use a couch mode on the Quest 2 since for me everything worked pretty much out of the box in regards to that.
ivanoff Posted June 28, 2021 Author Posted June 28, 2021 Thanks for the reply. I was wondering how to use your keyboard to enter your name at the start of the game. Do you have to have it paired to the headset? I would hate to go through the game with the name "Prisoner"
yakuzakid Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Nah, it brings up a virtual keyboard. I got a quest 2 a month ago or so and picked up Skyrim in the sale. Spent the day getting a bunch of normal mods running on it. Now trying to get sexlabs n body/beautifucation mods working but not done this on SSE in 3 years and kind of forgottten a lot.
