Skyrim volume defaulting to mute?

Hey guys! Very quick question - what is it exactly that sets Skyrim's opening volume level as default?

The reason being, I just encountered a weird PHENOMENA (

).

For some reason, my Skyrim seemed to be defaulting to "mute" at startup. The volume slider needed to be manually moved once in-game - once volume was set, it was fine, until the next time I wanted to open the game. The effect persisted even with a completely new save, then a new game, and at one stage even occurred if I used a separate Vanilla install I have created for testing. Google doesn't seem to know, or else I was looking for the wrong thing/s.

I did however manage to FIX the problem. I temporarily moved the .ini's to the desktop, and started the game with the Vanilla launcher to make new ones. It worked. I then junked the new .ini's & replaced the old ones to see if the problem re-appeared. It did not. The sound at startup now works fine.

Weird...

You most likely had the game on mute when you last closed it.

- Go to your Fallout.ini file.

- Scroll to audio section.

- Change bEnableAudio=0 to bEnableAudio=1

Ah-HA! Thanks Ark of Truth!! ^_^

I close it on "mute" quite often if I'm tinkering, & when I load back up it's mute until I crank it up - but this was weird! It was happening even when I was closing it with the sound cranked! I'll make a beeline for that entry in the .ini next time - thanks!! :)
