FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Hey guys! Very quick question - what is it exactly that sets Skyrim's opening volume level as default?  The reason being, I just encountered a weird PHENOMENA ( ). For some reason, my Skyrim seemed to be defaulting to "mute" at startup. The volume slider needed to be manually moved once in-game - once volume was set, it was fine, until the next time I wanted to open the game. The effect persisted even with a completely new save, then a new game, and at one stage even occurred if I used a separate Vanilla install I have created for testing. Google doesn't seem to know, or else I was looking for the wrong thing/s.  I did however manage to FIX the problem. I temporarily moved the .ini's to the desktop, and started the game with the Vanilla launcher to make new ones. It worked. I then junked the new .ini's & replaced the old ones to see if the problem re-appeared. It did not. The sound at startup now works fine.  Weird...
Ark of Truth Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 You most likely had the game on mute when you last closed it.  - Go to your Fallout.ini file. - Scroll to audio section. - Change bEnableAudio=0 to bEnableAudio=1
FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 Ah-HA! Thanks Ark of Truth!! Â I close it on "mute" quite often if I'm tinkering, & when I load back up it's mute until I crank it up - but this was weird! It was happening even when I was closing it with the sound cranked! I'll make a beeline for that entry in the .ini next time - thanks!!
