Okitsune Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I've been looking around for a good foxgirl/foxboy/kitsune race, but I haven't really seen anything. I would absolutely love to be able to play Skyrim as a foxgirl or foxboy. But you know, an adult one. Not a child or loli-like one. There's already Elin for that! Unforunately I have no idea how to create custom textures, races, and whatnot for Skyrim, so I can't do a project like this myself (though I would try, if someone pointed me in the direction of good tutorials). Some of the features I would like to see would be... Women and Men who have Fox Ears and Tails. Otherwise human-looking or elf-looking in appearance. The ability to choose from multiple colors for hair, ears, and tails. Such as have brown hair and white ears/tail, or blonde hair with black ears/tail, etc. Either the ability to choose Ears/Tail seperately (and color them separately) from hair, or modify something like ApacheSkyHair to have several sets with different ear colors. Be balanced between magic and physical traits, not super heavily leaning towards one or the other. Compatible with UNP and CBBE.* Extra eye options including slit pupils and no pupils, as well as different versions where sclera are black instead of white. Fully compatible with nudity mods for above body types. Compatible with skin textures that add veinyness or wetness to skin (can't find the link for the one I wanted). Ability to make character extremely pale. I really would love to have snow white skin! *I'm currently trying to figure out if I can use both UNP and CBBE somehow. There are certain armors I like that only allow the use of one of those body mods. I use the TERA armor mods currently, and a couple other UNP-only armor mods. But a lot of races and other armors I have looked at require CBBE. I don't understand much about creating mods, so I'm aware I may be asking a bit much. So if this seems like too large a task, feel free to point me in the direction of learning material so that I can try to make this myself. Artwork for inspiration;
canderes Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 You can actually specify the body used under armor addons. One way you could use two different bodies would be to have an armor addon for each race. Hair tint can be applied to the ears and tail so the color matches all across the body. If you are going to use a custom body and make armors then you would have to model those yourself, otherwise you can do what skyrim does, use the vanilla bodies and have the tail added like on the beast races. All that face specific stuff would be a pain in the ass to make unless all you are doing is adding new eye textures for that race only. The bodies you use can have a different specular map than the ones you already use; just keep them in a different folder like all those race specific ones: breton/argonian/elf whatever. It wouldn't be too difficult. If I make a custom race tutorial I'll consider making something like this. I'd lean more towards wolf girls, but this would be cool. I see what you mean for by the elf race. It would be the perfect starting point for this and all it would require is for the ears to be hidden. Slightly different topic: Imagine if we could port the miqo'te models from FFO. Shit I wish I could do something huge like that. Sony would immediately call for a cease and desist though I'm sure.
JerWA Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 What about the Magic, Battle or just plain Matera? One of them might provide a good starting point at least if you intend to go further with it.

Yeah, it would be awesome if we could port the Mi'qote. I'm actually playing FFXI right now, as a Mithra, and I've been trying to find out how to create custom .dat's so that I can turn her into a fox girl by changing the ears and tail. >_> I was thinking that the eye textures would be specifically for that race. If I were to make this race myself, I would probably end up adding wolf, rabbit, cat, and some other animal types to it too. But for personal use I'm really wanting a fox girl. I think I'm getting to the point where I need to uninstall every mod I have and re-install the ones I want to keep... I have like 100 mods sitting in my NMM right now, ~30 of which aren't enabled anymore. What about the Magic, Battle or just plain Matera? One of them might provide a good starting point at least if you intend to go further with it. Thanks for those links, I hadn't seen those. Those would probably be a good starting point for me to figure out how to work with this, if I decide to make it myself. I would definitely want higher resolution textures than what I'm seeing used in the Matera screenshots. I'll have to install it and check it out.
LolGG Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 There us a WIP Kitsune race on the nexus already.(It is playable but not complete)
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 The main problem with making these types of races is that no one who has done one has been able to remove the "human/Elf" ears from the head which results in a character with two sets of ears.
canderes Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Actually the easy fix for that would be to make the alpha channel transparent on the ear area. Copy the normal map from the side area of the head to make that area seem flat by adding a floating polygon under the hair model and applying that part of the normal map to it.
JerWA Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 The Matera I linked above have no double ears. Unfortunately what you then learn is how many hair styles, exactly, have the ear shape built in. Looks awful having a huge ear hole in your hair where there's no ear.

Looks awful having a huge ear hole in your hair where there's no ear. They still have the ear mesh,just not the texture. As for how to remove the ear mesh itself,it can be done via sculpting the head.nif.However,since thevertex count has to be kept intact,it takes time (though not sure why there are no resources for these yet).
canderes Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Ask and you shall receive. Yeah you can relax the shit out of the ears to make them appear flat, but the texture and normal map need to be edited because the pattern for the helix is still there. As long as you use the presets for the bretons, redguards, or nords (is it possible to take the elf face traits without dragging the ear morphs with it?) the ear area is pretty much flat with minimal pinching. A flat normal map of that area (blurring the ear into the side of the head) will probably fix that problem, but the helix and the other curves will need to be painted out of the diffuse texture. Sorry about the ugly picture I just reinstalled the game on this computer. Also the _sk map causes some transparency/redness/yellowing issues, but it shouldn't be anything that you can't cover up with the hair or blur out of the _sk as in the normal map. (DON'T overwrite your head with this. It will screw up the ears.) femalehead_noears.zip

EDIT:Tested,get the same result as with my heads (head is above mouth,hair and extra parts,unless it is a CK problem) Slightly different topic: Imagine if we could port the miqo'te models from FFO. canderes Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I just used it over the vanilla head and it was fine. One thing I didn't bother to check was if the vanilla head had transforms or not. It's likely that the head had the pivot reset to 0 0 0 and is causing that problem. I haven't tried making a race, but what I would do to keep things as they are now (with the vanilla head) is duplicate one of the existing races and specify the new model instead of making a new one (race) from scratch. It could also be that I did(n't)? preserve the hierarchy (nifskope). Some meshes like armor need the hierarchy flat, but alot of the base parts like the hands and feet and body need it preserved.
LolGG Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I made both male and female that work perfectly All that they need is someone to fix the maps slightly (a friend of mine is working on it...you will see the meshes in my friend's mod soon-ish) I am lurking (mostly) in the nexus by the alias swmXIII (my OLD alias)
canderes Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I'm gonna take a shot at this and do a wolf race then. I just can't stop laughing though because I picture the big burly ass men from skyrim with animal ears. This is definately gonna be a ton of work to make it even remotely believable. Gonna try to dupe the miqo'te look to make it tolerable.

I was lurking on loverslab for some armor and found this. I'll get those ears fixed as soon as I get my Matera update finished :3. (If I can, I want to do the mesh with the update. But we'll see how long it takes lol) Oh, and HI! Edit: Taking a break >.<. The fur _msn is scary!
Sutha Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Btw, this site is what wanted me to create the Matera! All the requests for a kitsune race.
