DDS files getting corrupted

I had this issue with photoshop cs6 crop up a few days ago and I don't know how to fix it.

 

When I try to save a dds file that I edited, it gets cut in half; it looks like this:

 

 

I have tried reinstalling the plugin (three times because it got corrupted somehow), and even reset my ps preferences. Also, when I open up an unedited femalehands.dds file, they are stretched out and you can see the mipmaps underneath the background layer.
