Double D Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Well I just decided to clear out my Skyrim data folder to reinstall my mods from scratch and I've run into a little issue. Now I'm not sure if this is normal or not as it's the first time I've ever noticed it but when I wield a bow and look downwards I get a strange object to appear. In the lower left hand corner of the screen is really just some strange looking object. I can't think of any other way to describe it. I don't really have much in my load order at all so far; namely just the official dlcs, the unofficial patches and Alternate Start - Live Another Life. I've also extracted the contents of the high resolution texture packs to my Data/Textures folder. The texture pack esps however are not activated. Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing anyways: Upon further inspection it looks like my character's shoulder, who is a male Nord. Removing my armor still gives the object albeit with bare skin. Still it just looks off and I'm just wondering if I did something wrong. Is this normal behavior?
Ark of Truth Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I would say you have installed a file which changed how the skeleton worked as it is the skeleton which defines the camera. I think it's the skeleton anyway.
Double D Posted March 30, 2013 Author Posted March 30, 2013 Are all skeletons located in the Data/Meshes folder? If so I can confirm I have none installed. I'm currently redownloading the meshes.bsa to see if that fixes it. Further troubleshooting shows that the issue also only pertains to male characters. Females are unaffected.
Ramach Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I'm getting this issue as well, the only mod I have that could possibly change the skeleton is CBBE, but I was getting this issue long before I installed that so that can't be it. I can't remember when I started having this issue but I can't possibly think what mod is causing it, if any. I was fine for the longest time then suddenly it started happening. This is happening for both male and female characters, all races from what I can see.
Double D Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 Well after doing a full reinstall of Skyrim the issue persists but I think I found the cause of the problem. If I set my character's weight to the minimum or somewhere on the lower side of the scale the issue goes away. Sometimes it'll pop up but it's not as visible as the screenshot above. Set it at max however and boom. You get the ugly, blocky shoulder in view. I couldn't get the issue to appear on any female characters in my tests but that may just be because I was using the stock bodies. They also have a much smaller frame then males, even at max weight. EDIT: I'd just like to add that after the reinstall no mods were used. Just a fully updated Skyrim along with Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn.
