[Fixed] Modded headgear not equipping (most of the time)

Hi all. I've got a wierd issue where modded headgear doesn't seem to want to equip onto my character, sometimes they will, other times they won't, it's very inconsistent. I took a bunch of helmets from Immersive Armors and Wet & Cold and went through equipping them all, I found that sometimes some would equip, and then I'd go back and check the ones that previously didn't equip to find they are suddenly now equipping as they should. So I'd have to go through the list to find one that works then that seemingly "enables" the broken ones. Trouble is even then if I change any other piece of gear ie boots or torso the helmet would unequip again (sometimes my hair would also disappear too though that always came back). If I chose another "bad" helmet it would break all the helmets again and most wouldn't equip.

I suspected at first it was a conflict with a Sexlab mod as the issue seemed to start around the time I started installing adult mods but I think that was a red herring. Headgear works fine on NPCs and followers, it's just the player character I'm having issues with, I'm fairly confident it's a conflict with either Immersive Armors, Wet & Cold, perhaps K's Hairdos or High Definition Head? Vanilla helmets work fine. I'm no expert on these things so I'm trying to narrow it down, I'll continue to troubleshoot and will update but in the meantime if anyone has any ideas please let me know as I'm running out.

EDIT: After a bit more Googling and rewording my searches I found this is a pretty common issue with Devious Devices, (so I was on the right track with the Sexlab thought process) DD uses an invisible item hider in Slot 41 which is what a lot of custom armor mods use for their headgear. The workaround is you can go into DDs MCM menu and select "Devices Underneath (1) and click "Item Hider" at the top and select a new slot. You can either set it to "none" which may cause issues with things like nipple piercings when wearing armor or another slot, apparently Slot 61 is a good one to pick, but I usually just go for "None".

Will leave this thread up for anyone who might have similar issues and is looking for a recent solution

That really helped! Thank you so much! In my case, I couldn't put on the helmet from the Asura Guard kit and a few others. Now everything works!
