How to apply facial expressions

So I never payed much attention to the expressions tab in the sexlab MCM before, but I noticed there are a few different presets (joy, shy, sad, etc...)

Thing is, as far as I can tell all sexlab animations always use the 'pleasure' preset. And I can't think figure out how to set a specific facial expression for a specific animation. I checked the .json files but can't find anything to do with expressions. 

 

Would appreciate it a lot if someone explained to me how expressions are chosen for an animation and how to change them.
